I was confused when I first bought it myself. I couldn't figure out how to activate it. But then while playing through Steam (starting up Steam first and starting the game from there), the first window that popped up was one that gave me the code to put into the account information page. And that worked easily for me. As a matter of fact, that pop up kept coming up every time I launched the game, until I finally disabled it (as I didn't need it any more).

This is umm.. a feature of Steam. Namely, the pop-up containing your CD keys/whatnot. As regards STO, it's never needed. Just a holdover from other games that do. Hence it's easy to get confused unless you're used to the ways of Steam.

asphe, i have done that. I cant find the cd key.
    NOW FINALLY READ THIS:
First i downloaded the game star trek online from the sto.com website.
Then i saw the new steamrunner and i downloaded it form steam (NO SHORTCUT, THE REAL DOWNLOAD)
I saw the cd key, but it gave an error, so i reinstalled the game.
Now the cd key button is gone.

I'm very happy with it. Especially since it comes with the low level stuff along with the VA version of the ship. If I want to make a new fed character, at least I can start out with a bit of better weaponry, armor, shields, and a good escort ship.

i see i am not the only one that has had problems with steam. i am sick of their smug e-mails. like an idiot i tried going through 3 sets of downloads to get this thing to work. both steam and sto through steam. never did work; no redeem code.

it did mess up my computer and i had to do a system restore. i uninstalled steam and contacted paypal to get my $12.95 back.

i am done with steam for eternity.

if paypal does not get my money back i close that account.

i have informed pwe that i will spend no more money with them as long as they continue to do business with rip offs like steam.

i may be out $12.95, but i will be saving money in the long run.

You had to do a full system restore on your computer merely after doing some redundant game downloads/installs? Really??

I'm afraid you may be beyond the ability for Valve, PWE, or any other company, to assist.

    Like an idiot, indeed...

I've just started 2 new characters, and I have to say, that little pack of BOFFS, equipment other goodies, and the new starter ship just blow me away. It's a great looking model, and I'm really pleased I purchased it.

I hope they release more packs like this which help you at the bottom and top end of the game like that.

The real reason I started 2 new characters, was to try out that starter set... and it's great! :)

Yes. I work for the software platform steam. Not Valve, the company that runs Steam, but in fact the software Steam itself.

You have exposed my chump-ness to the world.

In fact, from this point forward, all who mock you will also incidentally be employed by steam. Yours shall be a hollow existence to be sure.

BTW, how's that system restore going? Be careful not to make too many forum postings, or you may have to reload your system again.
