I have got a level 50 fed character and iam done with his ship. It isnt that strong. So i wanted a new ship and the steamrunner looked awesome! I just want it!
But, can i assign this ship to a existing character?
Or do i have to create a new character?

Great, can you tell me how strong/not strong it is?
And what build you have made from it

I haven't played with it to that extent. I bought it quickly while it was on offer, and added it to two of my characters, basically to take a look at the model (which I thought was really good) and check that I could re-claim it and add it to more than one character (which I could).

I suspect over the coming week or so, after others who are actually flying it have had chance to fly it in different missions there will be build threads starting to appear. When it appeared on Tuesday, it had the incorrect stats, and I think they were only corrected in the last patch, so really, no one has had chance to play with it yet and form an opinion (or so I understand). :)

    it has 10 console slots
the BOFF layout is pretty unique, only the jem'hadar bug ship can immitade it and to be honest it can be quite good both for defense and offense.
So i would say it is among the better escorts, even with the lower shield rating...compareable to any fleet escort. It definately is a PVP ship more than a PVE ship. The console is basically useless for PVE, but shines in PVP.
    Go pro or go home

Seems like it would be a good candidate for a dual Aux To Battery + Technician DOFFs build. Then tack on Emergency To Shields 1 in one ensign eng slot, and either Engineering Team or another Emergency power in the other. Either Sci Team 1 or Hazard Emitters 1 in the science slot, depending on the enemy you expect to face. Then you get to party with all the tac slots, since the Aux2Bat halves all your cooldowns and you could just go with 1 each of 7 different powers and just get excessive. Creates so many options to tinker with.

iam thinking to make a cannon ship with some patterns. Advice?
I am using a covariant shield mkXII and the borg set. Any suggestions on a offensive ship with cannons?

I haven't investigated aux battery builds which sound like they might be the best option, but I can lay down a nice starter duelist build for you.

Attack pattern omega and beta, cannon rapid fire 2, beam overload 2, tac team 2, tac team 1.

Reverse shield polarity 1, emergency power to shields 2, eng team 1, aux to engines 1.

Transfer shields strength 1, or some movement inhibitor sci skill.

3 DHC's and a DBB in front, 3 turrets in the back.

Not enough hull heal here and this build would not fair well in STFs with borg plasma melt.

My suggestion would be as follows:
    CSV3, CSV2, Torp spread 3 torp spread 2, APbeta 2, Tac team 1 x2
eng team 1 rsp 1, emergency power to shields rsp 1
    hazard 1

Would run 3 DC or DCH plus torp up front and 3 turrests at back.

Despite being second only to the Bug on paper, I've personally found it a bit squishy for my taste, but that might just be because I suck :P

Either way, it's an escort, so pretty much any cannon build that'd work on a Defiant-R, Armitage, or Patrol Escort should work out.

i have a adv esort now, and i have Alpha, beta and gamma. Toprspread, high yield, rapid fire and cannon spread. This works fine for me. Maybe a tac team in here would be good. I have aswell some heal abilities for sci and eng.
