Is burning through STO's new content in 2 months really a good idea? (exept those who feel they should pay nothing (no dilithium) to play STO).
Admittedly some dil. requirements are seeming a bit excessive but that's not the point.
"No goals" is playing with fire but even less entertaining. The actual play time needed for tier 5 reputation appears to be just a few hours (with a lot of waiting). Does it get harder? Perhaps the point is to add new types of reputation every few months.
For the people who worked so hard to attain these goals in the past this is all a bit of a slap in the face though.
If anyone is finishing the rep system in a few hours they are either hacking or lieing. The minimum for Tier 5 is around 60 days (2 months) and that is assuming you have all the marks and all the req items before hand, also starting the projects as they come up.
I personally think its kinda insulting that all the work you put into fighting the borg before S7 is basically ignored in the Rep system.
I can't say I agree with how the conversion worked. And I am particularly concerned with how this will make grinding up toons extremely difficult and/or tedious. However, I can say that I understand why they did it and why they needed to.
Simply put, I have heard tons and tons of people saying that they can essentially level a toon in 20 hours (don't ask me how they actually /play the game/ so much as treat it like a self-inflicted position in a sweat shop) and then screaming how they have nothing to do, even though there is a lot more to the game than rapid-leveling. This is something to do, and while more content would be better, it takes the devs weeks to build content that many of us blow through in hours and only play once.
So more variety is going to be necessary for the grind, but this sort of thing will help retain players in the long run, at least in theory.

Where are you getting this lol? There is unlocks up top of unlocks, yes you can unlock rep tiers in about 5 months if the rep gain does not increase as your working the rep. This is not counting the other unlocks for the gear, or the gears costs. I have had people put it between a year and possibly 2 years. I suggest you read up on current events, this is why people are pissed off right now.
Before season 7 we could run a stf and hope for a drop, now its quite possible this system will take years to get done as the devs have yet to release specifics in numbers. Yes they have given basic information but not the details people have been seeking.
