Who is still running STF's?

I'm just wondering how many of you are still running STF's now the Dilithium rewards and loot bag have been removed.

Personally I don't see the point of running STF's for just the Omega marks....it doesn't get you anywhere any time soon.Big waste of time and patience in my opinion.

IF I actually log in, and find a team, I might. A couple, ... , one, two, out of nostalgia, and that will be it I guess.

    No reason to run them.

EDIT: Go figure, but posting in and reading the forums has been far more pleasant than actually getting in the game for me, lately. (Well, kinda anything has been more pleasant, in fact.)

I've run 9, and I think I'm done for a while unless something changes for the positive. There's simply no reason to do them now on my main. I have a bunch of Omega Marks which I'll log in every 2 days to use up while I try and pay the ransom Cryptic's holding for my stuff-in-a-crate.

I have one science alt with whom I'll probably run the odd STF when I get the urge, just to laugh at how they all swarm around gravity wells like a washing machine.

But, as for being my reason to log into the game, STFs are dead.

I ran two ISE's last night, one each on different toons, specifically to get the marks needed to do the Omega stuff. Now that I can get my Mk XII guaranteed, you bet I'm going to keep running them.

Just... only because I have to. Which is the root of the problem with this whole thing. I used to want to. Not anymore. :\

Seriously, none of you care about the personal advancement system? You get like four passive powers and one active power? Plus there is stuff in the stores, other sets, new sets, other new stuff. You don't care about any of it?

There's no reason to run the STFs, though.

Until later tiers, the projects cost very, very few Omega Marks. I think they cost, what... 17 and 8 for the first two projects? And you get 75 from running ISE once. Run that once a day maybe, and you'll never have to worry about marks unless the future projects start costing hundreds or thousands.

At present, it's just not worth the time to do it.

Nope, not worth doing stfs or the Omega Rep. If you no longer really do Borg content, you no longer need the Borg Omega Rep or the gear within its grind ;)

Had they allowed us to get Omega Marks and the Bnp's from other non stf content, it might have been a different story....

What's the point of having 'stuff' in the stores if you have no Dilithium to buy it?And the powers are nice.....but so far I have managed to play without them,I'll be just fine.

At this very moment you can get 1440 dilithium from a 5-10 minute fleet action. That is until the whiners had their victory* with STFs getting dilithium rewards back and fleet actions getting more then halved.

*Victory for cryptic anyway, since they've just made dilithium grinding harder.

I think this is also a chronic problem with STO.

Looking at War-craft as an example, its content tiers up and up -- you do Tier 1 to get gear so you're strong enough to hit Tier 2, so you're strong enough to hit Tier 3, etc.

In STO, there's nowhere to go once you've got Mk XII gear. If you've got full Mk XI gear, you can already pretty much overpower all current content, even Elite STFs (if your whole group has Mk XI gear in Elite STFs, they become sooo easy). The standout exception to this would be the new Into The Hive ground and space STFs, since they're ridiculously difficult to complete... yet you really don't have to ever do them since they don't drop unique rewards and have no accolades attached to them.

So, at present, there's really no reason to have Mk XII gear, except to just blow things up slightly quicker, rather than tackling tougher challenges.

If they had released new STFs that dropped Mk XIII gear, and you needed at least full sets of Mk XI to stand a chance, then people would have a reason to run them.

On the other hand, if they did release content that dropped Mk XIII or even Mk IV gear, players would be stuck behind several weeks of time-gated Omega reputation projects in order to get into new projects, most of that time spent sitting on your hands watching a clock count down.

It may be the hip thing to rag on War-craft in some places, but their system works. Those devs are pros at dangling carrots in front of their players, and it wouldn't hurt for Cryptic to take a few notes. A fun game (and I still love STO's space combat) plus an effective carrot, and they'd have players playing their game a lot more than I think they are right now.

    EDIT:
I forgot that Cryptic censored War-craft...

So far I've continued to run STF elites. Have amassed about 1K OMs since S7 go live. Why ... well tbh I enjoy the missions. More so, I want the passive powers.

Have I been running other missions more often than I used to? Absolutely!
Have I been looking for the purple glowing optional reward canister every time we've aced the mission. Hell yes! Just feels wrong not getting any loot (besides the OMs & 1 BNP). Just one very rare Mk 12 drop for a successful optional (in addition to the bonus OMs) would just feel better. Mk 11 drop for missing optional.

Will I continue to run STF elites? ... yea, I imgine so.

What's missing though is the Dilithuim!!! STFs represent a significant accomplishment in time, ability and cooperation/coordination. This alone should merit some kind of dilithuim component. I understand the explanation behind the STF dilithuim changes. I heartily disagree with them. I feel 480 normal / 960 elite is more than appropriate.

Still, this must be said in closing. STO is their sandbox, not mine. My choice to stay and play and even pay. The day I can no longer stand their rules for their sandbox, I get out.

No,a good company would have balanced the rewards in such a way the player can choose what content to play to earn his or her Dilithium in the way the player wants.

Don't blame the people for asking just that, blame Cryptic for being greedy and sucking all the fun out of the game.

There are EliteSTF(send @Tilarta a message for invite) and PublicEliteSTF
The players have spoken and the STO team have decided to reverse some of the Dilithium changes of Season 7. Stay tuned for an announcement.
So here are the changes we'll be making in a maintenance build by the end of this week.

Normal STF runs will grant 480 Dilithium
Elite STF runs will grant 960 Dilithium
Space Fleet Action runs will grant 480 Dilithium
Ground Fleet Action runs will grant 640 Dilithium

I totally agree, I ran STF's solely for the purpose of Dilthium and Loot drops, both for my dil cap for the day and to convert drops into EC. . Now that is gone and I have no interest in running FA's with cooldowns for the drops I once got. .

True, but none of this qualifies as playing, in my book. STFs do.

I'm glad the Dilithium rewards are back for the STF's,and I imagine that the STF queues will start filling up again.

I'm not happy with the decision to nerf the Dilithium rewards on Fleet Actions by that much (from 1440 to 480:eek:) though, that really is overkill.
