New Romulus Waterfall Accolade Unobtainable?

vitzhvitzh Member Posts: 519
It appears as if obtaining the waterfall accolade is impossible for most people, as the area you must jump to is unreachable without the use of an engineer or caitian/ferasan. I've noticed quite a number of people trying to reach this part of the waterfall but most seem to be unable to jump past the last obstacle and instead seem to "slide off" at this part.

    I blame the Environment Artists.

    oh wait. . .damn.

There was a change made just before the final build got pulled. We reduced the number of triangles on all of the larger rocks to improve performance all around. That change made it into the build. Unfortunately, the changing of that geometry meant that some areas that had been accessible before, were suddenly too steep to walk on. We've already fixed up all of the accolade paths, so they should be traversable by everyone without cover shields or extra jump height. Unfortunately, that change could not make it into the build as it had too many other dependencies. As such, I hope that we can get these changes in for next week's patch.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

"We apologize for the inconvenience" is beginning to become a common phrase with the Dev team. Funny enough, it's also the last phrase used by the very first Dev team.

Ah well thats sorted, good to know reasons behind it. Was about to suggest if you remove some invisible walls in the clearing to the south of the waterfall and let us climb the cliffs it could be an interesting workaround. I remember having fun going places I was probably never meant to go on Tribble.

People are making it through, but it's horribly hard to get it. I've fallen about 20 times already trying to jump over the last rock to the waterfall.

If you look at that last rock like a clock, and get a running jump at about 10:15, you can make it.

i dont think its impossible because I have 2 members who have done it, its just extremelly inprobable, which is just as good. Unless you hit the jump at the exact angle and the right millisecond then you'll make it. I for one have just spent 3 houes and over 100 attempts to make this to no avail.

I dont think this is in the spirit of the accolade, the people have found where it is, we just cant get to it because of the crappy environment.

    please change this ASAP

    Many thanks.

Ok, for waterfall, to get to that hard last rock before the actual waterfall. Start climbing up and press QQ. You should roll to the top of the rock and then can jump down. Worked for me.

I have not tried it before the patch, but I spent a couple of hours trying it before. Might wait until next week to minimise the rage :P

I keep seeing mention of the last jump for the waterfall, but I don't even see where the first step is to get up there, or where to even begin. There's no footholds, no discernible path, nothing. Feels like this accolade was made exclusively for caitian/ferasan players, and even then, I don't see where they would start.

Its not easy but you basically follow the wall as far as you can go, and roll forward and to the left. And it will take you a couple of trys.

Devs sure know how to annoy people don't they?

I as able to do it on the day of release, but someone else had to show me. You have to do it just perfect.

The fix is made, but the fix is not in. We have been in a checkin freeze while the build stabilizes. So only critical fixes get checked in at the moment. This, while annoying, is not critical.

    Sorry for the wait guys.

You start on the forest end of the old bridge, and jump down on to the rocks below. Then you should be able to follow the ledge over to the waterfall.

Again, this is not SUPPOSED to be this hard. It was enhardened by another fix, and has already been adjusted, just not checked in. Every one of these exploration accolades should be accessible to any character through simple runs and jumps. No cover shields, no Caitians, no glitching. The fix is coming, please be patient.

I kept falling down on the last slope until someone mentioned how to do it in chat. Get to the last part and look at the purple plant... then roll forward, surprising how far you go.

Honestly, I kind of liked this kind of challenge. Anyone who collects Datacrons in a certain other MMO won't find this too hard.

I found the one in the staging area very hard without a caitian.

i got someone to make a covershield and eventually got up there only for the accolade not to work for some reason. perhaps i just mist the right spot.

im hoping that gets adjusted too next week and ill try again.

Without a caitian and if you're really struggling, get a tac officer to grant you motion acceleration. Could help a bit.

Do the waterfalls have a name?
    Every falls has a name!!
But i don't recall any of the Romulans saying it.

    I hereby dub the falls:
    Tacofalls
    Tumerboy's Blunder Falls
    any other names?

the great zesty one can choose. :D

Yup this is the other one I know I adjusted post rock geo change. However, the accolade should work if you can get up to it. You have to stand on TOP of the roof, not around the edge.

Good news is, I just checked all that stuff in, so hopefully it will make it into next week's build.

I certainly didn't name them, but there's no reason they couldn't be given a name.

Yeah I did. I was on the roof itself. I was in a team of two, and the other guys did not get up there. Do we both have to reach it if teamed?

Anyway I will try again next week.

Taco I managed to get it on both the fed and klink earlier this morning.
    Here is how:
Don't sprint like it states on the picture in one of the other threads, instead have your left shoulder towards the waterfall where the green moss is then doubletap Q to roll, run forward and head down to it.

This is how I got it after being shown by another kind player who was willing to show me!

Forget the "Sprint"! Just do as th3xr34p3r said and you'll get the accolade! ;)

Exactly, it's the perfect combination. Thanks for your explanation. :D

They will not work if teamed. Found this out on Tribble.
