so seriously thinking of saving the EC up to get one which will tkae a few months but the question i have is, how good is it what do people think about it and is it worth the moeny time and effort?
I think the general consensus is that it's a great escort, if you have the chance to own one I say go for it. I haven't got one though, but I wouldn't mind;)
A contract is a contract...(but only between Ferengi).
Best escort in game period. I get better dps than fleet defiant with 2 pces Jem set and polaron weapons, 4x borg dhc pol and 3 borg pol turrets vs 4x Fleet AP (critD) and 3 x fleet ap turret (acc) on defiant. Turn like a fly and tough as nail. Some say OP, I say yeah lets destroy some enemy..... fast, real fast
Jamal : Tactical space specialist. USS Bug Warrior and many others
E'Mc2 : Science Reman torp T'Varo, deadly annoyance :P
Kunmal: Tactical fed Klingon, ground specialist, USS Kanewaga
Ka -tet Tier 5 fleet fully completed Starbase and fleet property

Do you PvE or PvP?
The Jem'hadar attack ship is the best PvP ship, hands down. It's fast, versatile, durable, allows for many different loadouts and benefits from the 'Victory Is Life' Jem set.
If you're a PvE'r, I'd say save your EC's and use whatever you got. In PvE, it makes no difference.
I love the ship. Have only done elite STFs with it so dont know about PvP but its awesom. For now its gonna be my main ship. Always flown escorts, flown all and lately been playing with atrox carrier but since i got this ship some days ago i leave all other ships in the shipyard.. for now.

I was lucky enough to get one on the 3rd Reinforcements Duty Officer Pack. Nice ship! I went through all the Jem' missions and got the Shield/Impulse/Deflector set. I think I'll go for the Phased Polaron set as well. It has only 1 Science slot (I recommend Shield reg console) but 5! Tac slots = weapon power!
I have it setup with standard Polaron DC's (any weapons in the game will work with it) in front and Polaron turrets on back and it rips the shields off of the NPC ships. It's great for STFs. I have not done PvP yet but I'm sure its great there too.
It relies on being fast (it's an escort not a cruiser) so don't try to tank with it.
If you have a few bucks, I would recommend giving it a try in the C-Store before the sale is over - just don't go crazy. You at least get some DOffs from it.

If it doesn't DPS like a defiant retro on steroids and tank like an oddy you're doing it wrong... enough said
Escort that can tank? Would you like to elaborate on this with a layout recommendations?
Thanks.

The Bug is definitely the best escort in the game and in the eyes of some, the best ship in the game, but before you spend all that EC you have to ask yourself how much the best ship in the game is really worth.
Do you play PvP a lot? If so, then yes, having the best escort in the game is definitely a plus.
But if you don't play PvP, then having the best equipment simply doesn't matter as much as playing well. This is especially true for space missions.
But if you're just wanting to see what the fuss is about or simply looking for a new ship to play, it might not be worth th 250m+ EC it commands on the exchange.
A fleetmate of mine was lucky enough to score a Bug on a reinforcement pack this week, and what he plans to do is sell the Bug (once prices go back up after the promo) and then use the obscene amounts of money he made to BUY the Lockbox and Lobi ships he really wants.

Give that man a medal. Tbh if I ever got a bug, that's exactly what I would do with it. Sell the bugger (no pun intended). Cuz I love my FPE and see it as being superior to the Bug (my opinion ONLY, and only because the FPE has better utility courtesy of more sci ability, which again is MY OPINION) and as such, would have no use for it. But I would have use for the many millions of ECs it would get me.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
I have had mine since the previous offering and must say its a good powerful ship, nothing can match its DPS.
I would say if you want the best PVP ship then this is the one for you.
If you want a strong PVE there are many other routes that do do just aswell as possibly better depending on your play style.
The strength of the bug in pvp is related to its turn rate and in PVE its simply a waste, when i use mine for pve i swap out the rcs's for armour and pdp consoles, so i do agree more shield console slots would be good.
I do think bringing the ship out again and then extending the offering seems a little desperate for cash on the part of cryptic, and just shows that you could save for ages for it, buy it and they can then make it common place or even release something better.
The ship doesnt really change the game and is it worth all the effort some seem to put in for it??? i doubt it.
One last point, its a shame the defiant isnt king of the escorts, it blimmin well should be and its so much prettier.

I know, right? I mean, I did the math one day based on the prices I saw a couple weeks ago and the result, and for the price of 1 Bug (about 250-300m on the high end) you can get MULTIPLE lockbox ships that are equally cool!
Sure the other lockbox ships aren't as overpowered as the Bug, but unless you're hardcore into PvP, and sometimes not even then, having 2-3 cool ships is better than 1.
not strictly true when u add the jem set with polaron weapons into the equation.
Which is why in the same post i point out the strength of the ship is in the turn rate..
The 7.6% from the Jem'hadar set adds approximately 11 damage per shot to DHCs, less to turrets. Your better off going with tetryon gliders and some polarized disrupters. Plus, any ship can use that set.
As far as 5 tac ships in PvE:
The real strength of the Bug over the Fl Defiant is its tank. It's far more survivable.
The real strength if the bug over the Fl advanced is its DPS, the Fl advanced has a useless Ens tac slot where the bug has a LtCmrd.

Oh god its the scam ship again XD
ok lets talk about the best escort in the game
-high turn/inertia its not a plus any escort can have enough turn and with some fly skills even turn faster than a bug [im not giving tips]
-flexibility in doff layout, realy? must use one lt. for sci so ull have the same layout like the Fleet Patrol
-cant run tetryon glider. fed have only a few escorts able to run tt glider efficient. [no names :P]
-high dps [5tac consoles] maybe for pve but in pvp 4 even 3 are enough to kill just as fast like the bug ship dose if you know when to hit
-THE PRICE/PERFORMACE i can fit any T1 fleet escort with less than 100mill ec including ship price to outperform and kill any bug ship.
This is just my opinion and its based on pvp experience the Jem'hadar ship is a god ship but i will never try to get one because its not worth the amount of money/time for the little extra ,,performance'' when you can do better with less

Has more hull than the Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit, higher shield modifier (I think?), and has a much higher turn rate.
I don't need or want one, but I can see why a lot of people do prefer it.
I love the 2 Uni LT slots, can really change it up to suit your needs.
Elite cubes are a joke!.. ( if done right )
hull and shield are the same. and, with 2 lt eng, you can run a dual a2b build, which is what i use on my bug.
in face, i often wish i could have 2 sci slots instead of 4 engi. 3 engi, 2 sci, 5 tac would be ideal.
but the steamrunner aint bad at all....
in any case, for the bug in stf's or pug pvp, use lt engi, lt sci. for team pvp with a good healer or for pve, run the aforementioned dual a2b build.

If I had the 2-piece Jem'Hadar set on any 5 tactical console escort with polaron weapons, I would have the same DPS.

Most people tend to do this as well.
I agree that the turn rate of the Bug is great, but relying on that is not the only way to keep your target in your fore arc.

I don't think you'll find many people that agree with you, considering the bug one-ups the Fleet Patrol on almost every single point.
