Yeah i know i know... the s7 is early but... I need some idea in which opportunity the Aegis Set work (pvp, tank, tac, heal...)... or this set really dont work for anything

I will plan craft this set but some people said me: this set not work is better this or these... then..

Aegis set work for anything??

Thanks in advanced

It's basically a tanking set, it's just been outclassed by later sets. Particularly, for STFs, the MACO shield alone gives similar resistance out of the box than the Aegis set bonus gives when it's fully ramped up.

Anyway, right now, though? Might actually be a worthwhile project. With the tribble test weekend being over, it looks like S7 will launch this week or next week at the latest, not leaving you much time to get another set before they become locked on the other side of the reputation grind.

Basicly the Aegis set is a shield tank set with a hull tanking proc, that is useful on ships that fight on the move. I have fleetmates who do elite STFs with the Aegis and do just fine.

I will say that the Borg and MACO sets are fairly easy to get and (maybe even in S7) cheaper than the Aegis.

If you have the ECs you can buy the complete sets on the exchange which is cheaper than buying the materials on the exchange. If you are buying it for Dilithium (via unreplicatable materials) it's ridiculously expensive (something like 50K+ Dilithium).
My Romulan Liberated Borg character made it to Level 30 and beat the (old) Defense of New Romulus with the skill point bug. :D

Looks like a few people - including me - have been using MACO shields + Aegis 2 piece since the news about the Borg set 3 piece needing the shield.

As has been said, its worth trying out on Tribble different setups

Basically the set is good for builds that can replenish the large capacity of the shield and take advantage of the hull resistance bonus that can be granted (few armor consoles).

I can imagine only like 2-3 builds I would ever use whole set even when I have full Maco Mk XII.

That said, engines + deflector are still decent choice because of the free 10% bonus.

You can manage 30% extra defence with this, elusive trait and that doff that increases your defence while pets are on recall. Not bad at all, but only useful on carriers.

i think the aegis set is pretty easy to craft. it will just cost you some dilithium for uncommon material.

i have moved it around trying it on various ships. it found a home on the atrox and seems to do pretty well on that ship.

with the nerf coming in season 7 on the borg/maco set up i crafted one more which is currently in the bank, just in case. most of my ships run borg or maco 12 now.

i do have the dreaded fully upgraded reman set and i use it, but i would not recommend going through the hell to get it. it seems like few know how to run the vault and honestly the set is just not that great imho.

i like the aegis set and i think the skin is great.

The Aegis set is the only end-game set you can purchase at the Exchange.

It was generally regarded as the weakest of the VA sets and an easy to acquire prerequisite before doing STFs.

Not sure how it compares, now.

I've flown Aegis since I bought it for about 3 million EC back before S6 launched, and it's served my Defiant well. But is it good?

Engines and Deflector are Okish and together they give you 10% defence. The shield is TRIBBLE in current standards (MACO).

Aegis also has the benefit of being usable at level 40, five levels before you could possibly get STF gear.
    __

I think it should be a priority for Season 8, or Season 9 at the absolute latest, for Cryptic to completely revamp the crafting system in this game. It costs are high (too much dil) and its rewards are low (no Mk XII gear), and the whole process just doesn't feel any different from shopping at a vendor.

Tied in with that crafting revamp, the Aegis set needs an update to bring it in line with other endgame gear. Heck, make the Mk XII Aegis bind-on-pickup, too, to incentivize people to actually go through the process.

Maybe need an update but... with the change in season 7 (prepatching up) maybe a lot of people will use this set probably... that is maybe is more easy to obtain... the new system... who knows how many time we need now for the "new" omega set :(

The grind will be much easier now that the dilithium component on the 2000/800 xp projects is gone. If you grind straight to the set you want and then requisition it, the longest grind (MACO/Omega/HG mk XII) is
38 project cycles or at least 76 days.

Keeping up with the grind as it is now on tribble is pretty easy, progression projects don't take dilithium and have low mark inputs. But getting the items once you're there themselves is a different matter, approximately 17 elites per mk XII set piece for the marks (you'll get far more neural processors than you'll actually need).

I hope not to break the rules with posting here but my search-fu brought me here and I didn't want to open a thread that was already opened ...

SO, the Aegis set can be bought from the Exchange, but is there a minimum Mk level they can be crafted into?

Admittedly, I'm far from being able to equip them (being level 21 now), but I'm researching my long-term goals.

    Thank you for further feedback!

as was said a bit higher than you, you can use the Aegis set at level 40, no sooner. It's a really good set for level 40-45 or so as you start doing STF's, so if you can get/craft it, by all means, do so :)

EDIT :: no, it doesn't have Mk to it so it's one set, straight up, no need to make more than one (unless you want another set for another ship, of course) :)

I've been using the Aegis set on my Oddy Tac Cruiser for some time and I'm perfectly happy with it. With the bonus I get from the three Oddy consoles along with the Aegis bonus, I usually have very little trouble. I don't fly it in STF's, (I have my Chimera set up specifically for that), but I do use it for all my dalies along with the Romulan dalie and it works just fine :)

To be honest, the Romulan and other Daylies are too easy for a benchmark. You can do them with a tier I ship without difficulties ;)

The Question is would you rather use the Aegis set or the Borg set for sTF's before you get the Maco set
I have just crafted the Aegis Sheild and wondering whether it was a waste

Since the days of the Covariant Cap x 3 shield, I have only ever used covariant shields. I find that the higher capacity is more forgiving to me when I'm not ontop of buffs. Resilient and regenerative shields just burn off to quick for me. I have had the full Aegis set on my Defiant since I crafted it when it was released. And have done plenty of ESTFs with it.
