Ok, since people be whining that the current STF system is pure luck based and old timers and veterans want to keep the current loot system, why not institute a hybrid system? Both the current STF structure would be kept to provide the loot and dilithum, but also provide some omega marks for one to put into the reputation system. In essence, it would be like the current lobi crystal system: go to an STF, if you don't get what you wanted/like, dump the omega marks you got into the reputation system.
So maybe if each run gave out, say for the sake of argument, Data Chips, and if you didn't get the tech drop you could still collect maybe 40 or so of these Chips to buy the thing you needed?
while this system is much better.............not sure what you guys are on about but the rep system is the best thing yet. tho 2 passives stick out that makes me wonder

yes, you'd still get the data chips, but you'd also get the omega marks needed for the mk12's as EDCs only go up to mk11. In this hybrid system, the new reputation system will be in place, but the old one of loot baggies and random drops will still be there, but they'd also drop the new omega marks in addition to the standard EDCs and proto salvages. so EDCs for mk 11's, and omega reputation for mk 12's and their benefits.
Personally I would keep a hybrid of both systems, but keep the tech/salvage drops rates in game at a very low level so getting a tech or a salvage is like winning the lottery or something.
Well, it's already at those levels now tbh. It's not like it took me 1007 successful CSE runs to get 1 proto engine or anything
As for EDC, I would have that for buying doffs, consumables and the like, but not maco/omega/khg gear. We will have the rep system for those.
With no Random Loot bag, i see no incentive of doing any STF.
We were already getting the 1100 Dilithium and 2 garanteed EDC for every run WHICH WAS JUST FINE. And then we had the loot bag which could contain all you dreamed of or nothing.
I liked that. It was exciting.
Now with the new system, it will always be the same reward over and over and over... Now tell me how exciting that is?

agreed, and whatever console that you didn't find useful you can sell it for EC's.
If they just wanted to exchange the EDC/tech currencies into a new system where it's a cumulative currency and you apply it to whatever you want, I'd be fine with that.
That's not what they're doing.
What they are doing is forcing the STF system into a grind. Your reward now? The "honor" of "buying" what you want with ungodly dilithium amounts.
Oh, and the dilithium? That's cut in half, too.
This was NOT an update to change the STF rewards system. That's effectively cut. No more rewards. What they did was move the game a helluva lot close to a pay-for-dil-to-keep-playing system.
They're steadily removing any option you have in this game to earn items, be it random drops for your hard work or random doff missions that your well-placed doffs accomplished. They're making any rewards show up less and less, all the while offering you more and more the "honor" to "buy" your reward with dilithium. Which you can't get as much anymore.
It's a vicious cycle, and no doubt some marketting guru at PWE had a lot of long business planning sessions with Cryptic. No doubt this person is sadistic and mentally sick, but in a way the cycle is rather beautiful.
The end result is: This isn't an STF update. It's a "buy more zen to play like you were already playing" update.
What did you expect? They can't fleece the entire populace with lockboxes. Hell, they've had whales leave permanently over the lockbox stupidity.
For every whale that leaves, another needs to be found. S7 is Cryptic's way of turning the community at large into whales. Buy Zen, convert to Dil at a rate that the Devs will be controlling, and continue playing the same way it was BEFORE they decided that they needed bigger paychecks.
Hey Devs, if you want better paychecks, learn how to release an update WITHOUT childish bugs and glitches that any 12 year old on the street could prevent.
Oh, sorry. I forgot. You guys are professionals and we have no idea how hard you work, day in and day out, just to keep this game running. My bad.
Must be difficult clicking that "Delete" button on the bug reports that get sent in. This is one of the ONLY games that doesn't have a dedicated link in plain view to a list of known problems and bugs. The reason for that is simple: it'd take an entire server just to compile the list.

Now they release this stuff.

Why are you not rejoicing?
