Played Hive Onslaught on elite for the 1st time. The group I was with we ended up unable to finish it. We kept getting one shotted between the Plasma Bolt and the Plasma Lance. I think we get the picture that the borg are 'superior' but using the nuke option is a little excessive imo.
I will say that I noted the Plasma Energy Bolt seems to have a fast reload time.. Seemed faster than the Unimatrix in the Borg Sector alerts.
[Combat (Self)] Vessel Two of Two Unimatrix 01 deals 644417 (949517) Kinetic Damage to you with Plasma Energy Bolt Explosion.
[Combat (Self)] Vessel Two of Two Unimatrix 01 deals 188045 (291296) Plasma Damage to you with Plasma Lance.
[Combat (Self)] Vessel Two of Two Unimatrix 01 deals 165921 (273899) Plasma Damage to you with Plasma Lance.
would be nice if my Graviton beam could do some damage like that..lol
And please (for the love of God) get rid of the stupid respawn penalty. It serves no purpose except to make the players more frustrated.
Be aware that just like regular torpedoes and the Phaser Lance, the Unimatrix ships' Plasma Bolt and Plasma Lance fire in 90 degree cones centered around their fore and aft ends. Thus, if you stay on its "broadside" side, it can not fire its heaviest weapons at you.

D'Vak has always been a Starfleet officer ever since they introduced Battlegroup Omega where he is stationed on the Victory and serves as a liason with the Klingon fleet.

it's confusing though. as he wears a KDF uniform. why didnt they give him a worf like uniform? you know, starfleet with the Klingon sash. it looks like hes KDF who can fly Starfleet ships.
He only does so since the introduction of the KHG uniform. Until then he was just a portrait ina a dialog box.
not sure what outfit he wore back then... I am inclined to say a Starfleet uniform.
ran said STF earlier today. only one person died to the unimatrix ships. just have to be in the right spot and the plasma lances cant even touch you.
P.S. anyone find it funny the klingon D'Vak flies an odyssey?
dont know where u get this from we did it and at times i was way over 10km from it and it still one shotted me, i srios;y doubt this ifo is correct at least on elite,
Thanks. You'd be surprised at how many Trek fans fail to notice that "anti-positronic" means "electronic". ^_~
I got the inspiration from the DOFF mission "Calibrate Photon Particle Emitters", when I realized that the phrase could be used to mean "adjust the lights".
The regular torpedoes and Plasma Beams do fire 360 degrees, but the Lance and the giant targetable Plasma Bolts fire within the 90 degree arc (i.e. not broadside). Plasma Bolts, like Tricobalt and Bio-Neural warheads, are capable of tracking targets that move outside of their mothership's firing cone after they have been launched, and can acquire new targets if they lose their lock on the original one.
I believe that the 90 degree arc is with respect to the center of the Unimatrix ship rather than its fore/aft endpoints. Just like how we only see our weapons firing from the middle of our own ships' saucers, I think that all weapons essentially fire from the ship's center. This makes the programming much simpler, since you don't have to assign X,Y,Z coordinates for each and every weapon for every ship.
The queen minions arent the problem at all,the problem is the fight design, the npc seens to have no cd,they spam all that op skills all the time, you need to keep moving too much and if youre not using a beam based ship your dps suck, the U.I is useless so if you are playing with an escort for exemple you need to let your camera really away from your ship or those plasma bolts will eat you alive and the ***** it self spam alot of skill, making the fight utterly frustating, you spend more than half of the time not attacking her.
And the best part is the built in aceton assimilator of her.She simply uses and you and your team are dead,no warning no nothing.
Those devs must do some mmo boss fight workshop and give some use to the game U.I to help the player not keep dying like a noob no matter how long he/she are playing around and no matter the gear youre using.
Oh and fix the freaking bug on Infected space, sometimes those mobs just hit too hardand other days they die like trash
I dont want to die for a stupid, generic pathetic elite cube while im able to stay alive against Donatra's assimilated Scimtar, even using an escort.
THere is much needed to be done with this mission. The !st wave is tough but the respan spam for the regen probes and no cooldown of the Plasma spread is a cheat. A sci capt should be able to keep thier powers in forever cooldowns but they are immune to SCi debuffs.
Staying right at the center along the broadside of unimatrix vessels can indeed save your from being targetted by either the plasma ball or the lance. Iirc, the dialogue box that pops up after all tac cubes have been destroyed advises to stay 'near' the queen since the unimatrix vessels won't take chance of hitting it. This position happens to be the center along the broadside. The only attack player should fear now is the spread. Brace for impact when you see one. But you might still die before you see the spread thought
We run this strategy and it works. You have to bring a solid and balanced team to Hive to do it in a reasonable time. If you bring an all DPS/Tac Escort team, it will be a long mission.
Yes, the mission is hard, but doesn't need to be nerf'd.
There are no safe spot on the map - lance weapons kills anybody anywhere even near the queen. Tooltip says you should be in 5km to the queen - lance weapon kill me approx. 0.5 km from the queen. If not lance killed me then a plasma torpedo spread one-shotted the whole team.
I tried to avoid the queen also, tried to fly at top, at bottom, at the sides - no luck.

unless thrs an actual bug there is nothing wrong with this stf.
try grouping up and not puggin if ur having trouble.
only thing i dont like about this stf is the repair probes have insane healing. but again its not a problem for a good team
