I know I have brought up the idea of this before but especially now when there's a Super Cruiser, Super Sciece....where is the super escort?
I brought up in the past the Idea of a Genuine battleship, It was hampered down hard by people who said the Gal-X is a dreadnought. to me it is both a dreadnought in stature and in name, but it is namely a dreadnought due to its size and spinal lance...and its cloak.
Why not make us a newer generation Battleship, we got the odyssey, and soon the Vesta.
I know the adorian ship has been discussed and may be on the horizon, but it is not a Starfleet ship like the Odyssey and Vesta. both of those ships are newer generation.
I would love to see a DTN: Starfleet Battleship.
people in the past kept saying it is not starfleets way to design warships...and its not...but boy hell can Starfleet loophole the Sh** out of that statement and we all know it.
any thoughts on this?
BTW the main idea behind this is to get a battleship which is much larger than a normal escort but smaller than a cruiser...sort of like the destroyers we got in game now.
I second this idea, and I want at least one version to have a 360 turret that is worthy of being mounted on a battleship class of ship, and we'll call it the Missouri class.

If its larger than an Escort but smaller than a Cruiser it is not a Battleship but a destroyer in fact. The Chimera fills that function.
But I do agree that the Escorts could do with some more love from Cryptic. We've seen plenty of cruisers added, a few science ships but not many escorts. We need something to even it out.

mm escorts are okay for now , especially when you consider the sheer power of the fleet tac refit , wasnt THAT long since they added the armitage class
Battleships in this game are cruisers that move even slower and are tankier with more firepower. They are NPC only like the Typhoon.
I think you want would be better described as a multi mission destroyer. Something heavier then normal escorts and have universals. It could be an escort version of the oddy or vesta.
base console layout should be 4 tac, 3 sci, and 2 eng, and should have 3 different z-store varieties each having a different 10th console slot and unique console power, such as the tac version getting 5 tac consoles and so on.
It should have more hull and slightly less turn then normal escorts.
If in keeping in line with the oddy and the sci version of the destroyer would get sensor analysis that would be really nice to have on an escort but may be op

What's the super cruiser I must have overlooked it ?
Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
My apologies to the designer, but the Chimera doesn't look like a battleship, it looks like a support ship, a troop transport or freighter, a big fat goldfish. I suppose that Assault Cruisers fill the role of Battleships. For escorts we have the Multivectored advanced escorts and Armitage Escort carrier but I won't go so far as to call them "super escorts". I would like to see more new designs, sure there is some nostalgia from flying around in ships familiar to the TV series and movies but we are supposed to be in date well past that so it would be nice to see more "new" designs that are more fitting to this newer era.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
I've looked at mine a lot
I saw Guppy not Goldfish.

I'm thinking along the lines of a veiltail or fantail goldfish, the 4 nacelles are overkill IMHO and the engineering hull is just,, bulbous, I'm sure the ship has it's fans, it does have some cool animations when it changes modes, but to me it looks like it really needs to go on a diet.
Federation ships are getting more streamlined, often eliminating the dorsal pylon, even the Odyssey with it's twin necks has a very low profile for it's mass, the Assault Cruiser refit and the Vesta seem to be following that line, the Chimera seems like a throwback compared to this new line of design.
STO ship classes don't really follow naval designations, there are only 3 classes in STO escorts, cruisers and science vessels. The Miranda class, now called a light cruiser, used to be in the frigate class, so it's likely that we already have ships that fit in the category of "Battleship" even if it's not labeled as such.

One word-Armitege.It shoots and moves like an escort, tanks like a cruiser, and launches fighters like an atrox. At least mine does, and its very TAC, and ENG friendly.

Want a super escort...just fly a fleet tac escort retro or the bug, they are super enough...to add more to them would be worse than what the Vesta looks like IMO.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
That saddens me.I run 4 feds, and 3 KDF. I wish the devs would show a little more love for the KDF.:(Some more gear, ships, and missions only for the KDF.
Not that I could derive any meaning from a wall of DPS, damage resistance and healing statistics. I don't personally know how the two ships relate, I don't fly my Odyssey much, and I never bought the bortaS, but it seems to me someone's forgetting; They could double the bortaS' hull rating, turn rate, and mount a 360 degree Magog singularity cannon on it, and it'd still sell fewer ships than the Odyssey.
That said, I can imagine a corporate head office inspired reason to deliberately hold the Klingons back. Most people want to play Feds. Nothing to do with content or ship stats, if I say measured in sales it's a 3 to 1 split, I think that 1's probably a generous assessment toward the KDF. And if giving the KDF the superior ship drives away more Federation players who can now no longer hold their own against them, than it transfers Fed min-maxers to go play on the KDF side, IE they lose more sales on the Fed side than they gain on the KDF side, that's what's called a bad business decision.
Mind you, I don't know if this is a consideration, I'm sure they try very hard to balance things out as well as they can, but where they can't, the safest thing for them to do would be to try and err on the side of TRIBBLE J'mpok. That's what the numbers I do understand tell me. And that I have to find the magic sword.

First thing I always think needs be done about the KDF is the level thing.
KDF will NEVER have a decent influx of players until it becomes available as a first character possibility as well.

Rest in Peace Brothers
You just need an LTS :P

R.I.P
Don't remind me.
That thing is so unbelievably ugly.
No offense to it's designer intended..
There's a 3 variant Cruiser in the Odyssey, a three variant Sci ship coming in the Vesta, yes, we do need a 3 Variant Escort to finish it off.
But I do agree that the Escorts could do with some more love from Cryptic. We've seen plenty of cruisers added, a few science ships but not many escorts. We need something to even it out.
This looks like a job for....
The Andorian Escort! Get to it cryptic.

I would like it to have this boff layout
Cmdr tac
Lt sci
Lt eng
Lt Cmdr universal
Ens universal

Yeah they go and base sales off of the sales of the oddy vs bort...well the bort is a piece of junk compared to the oddy.
The Odyssey just out classes the Bortasqu' in so many ways its kinda sad.
Do you have any statistical proof of this?
Don't be ridiculous.

Better frigate - Oddy wins
Better consoles in general - Oddy wins
Oddy has slightly better shields where Bort has slightly better hull...so Oddy gives up nothing really for all of the better equipment.
Do you realize how powerful escorts are? There does not need to be a SUPER version of one.
