The return of Dr Sibak for Halloween?

ncodb01ncodb01 Member Posts: 9 Arc User
Good morning/afternoon.

Had a thought.. what with Halloween around the corner, has anyone at Cryptic thought about having the Hearts and Minds mission return for Halloween? I read somewhere it was being considered for "an appropriately scary day" or something along those lines, considering the next Friday 13th is not for quite some time.

Cheers.

This will be my 3rd Sibak. My crew deck is starting to feel like that Michael Keaton movie Multiplicity.

Excellent. I'm stuck at work at the moment, so haven't been able to check yet.

On a related note, does anyone know if the Lirpa with Psi damage is any good compared to other melee weapons?

Same. But being an oldish player I was thinking BACK TO THE FUTURE with all those Michael J Foxes. And considering one of the temporal doff assignments send us to cause some thunderstorms at 15 year intervals... XD

"Last Engage! Magical Girl Origami-san" is in print! Now with three times more rainbows.

Support the "Armored Unicorn" vehicle initiative today!

Thanks for Harajuku. Now let's get a real "Magical Girl" costume!

The ingame calender, as accessed through the journal. There is a calender button just under where the scheduled event list is.

Wait, I thought the Saibak clone was unique per character ala the Exocomp.. I didn't run this last time bc I thought I wouldn't get a reward.

Definitely would like another as he's very useful in the Colonial missions.

Nope. He's not unique. But is only earnable once per event.

    Now... My question is:

What are the psionic abilities this affects?

The only confirmed source of player psionic damage I can find is Rapture. I thought for sure this included Telekinesis.

TK and the Ophidian cane should both be affected.

Sibak's bonus affects any trait that is tagged internally as psionic, which includes:

    * Telekinesis (the activateable version, including Reman)
    * Rapture
    * Mind Meld
    * Project Image (Aenar or Reman)

Most useful if you have a crew with lots of Letheans or Aenar.

Interesting, as there currently are no Remans with Project Image or Telekinesis.

Does this mean that you have traits worked out for hypothetical species?

Or that some species might not be so hypothetical?

Always wondered - Do DOff traits affect BOff abilities on the ground?

Yes. By and large, BO powers are treated as YOUR powers and vice versa. Not for cooldowns but for boosts and skillpoints.

Reman antagonists that you face may use those abilities. They are categorically marked as psionic for accuracy (and in case we have a later power that affects psionics, like a psionic damper weapon, a buff power that enhances psionics in a radius, or whatever).

Hah. Yes. But they don't benefit from DOffs.

Generally no, but as noted, this affords us the opportunity to add more psionic-modifying powers in the future without having to go through and recategorize all of those powers -- they are already categorized.

So here's the question I have:

Do you have trait lists for NPC species? I've always tried to guess at what to go for when making a custom alien, to keep them "authentic."

Or do you only know their active powers?

A lot of the standard custom aliens on the exchange strike me as ideal setups for Vulcanoids, Cardassians, and Vorta.

I made my Terran alt a custom alien because it looks to me from the DOffs that Terrans have Aggressive and Efficient as their default traits rather than Teamwork and Leadership.

Hmm. So, NPCs don't have DOff powers at the moment. I think they should. After all, NPCs are already using C-Store powers. If you see a Prometheus where there should be a Typhoon, it'll use MVAM, and I've seen Armored Intrepids and Saucer Sep Galaxys. Hell, I've seen a Guramba go into Siege mode, though I've avoided being Javelin'd. So, if they can use C-Powers, why not DOff stuff. It'd at least make PvE a bit more challenging.

Correct me if I'm wrong (because I may be), but doesn't the Reman BOFF have a psionic attack that isn't TK or Rapture?

This would be an interesting way to give Foundry authors some customization, if they could select, say, five DOff bonuses to give an NPC group.

That would be a cool addition to the Foundry, though I'm still waiting for the ability to custome build boss encounters.

Well, we have one... with none of those powers... and the Embassy awards ROMULAN BOs and a choice between Reman and Romulan non-combat entourages.

Reman Science Officer Candidate is the limited time reward for completing the mission "Cutting the Cord." The link is to the STOWiki page and it apparently does have a power called "Mental Burst" which appears to be psionic in nature.
