I'd rather wait and get a proper expansion or something. Heck I'm sure people would pay if given the option.
A free update with playable Romulans would be even better.
No lockboxes though. IF, and I mean IF the ships ever come over to Fed side for whatever reason I'd rather buy them outright than take my chances on a lucky dip thing.
I opt for that, I honestly would say that I would spend money on a TRUE Blue Expansion. However; Cryptic's idea of expansion packs are in the form of Seasons, which aren't really expansions. They mostly consist of New Zones that are Grind heavy, minor tweaks, NERFS, and cosmetic jobs / with the occasional rehashing.
Considering how I got my Temporal Destroyer, I don't really mind the lockboxes anymore.
I buy 50 keys, sell them, then buy whatever lockbox ship I want for EC.
I admit it's still a 45 Euro investment for a ship that probably isn't worth it, but considering my terrible luck opening those boxes, or rather, terrible luck with any kind of MMO gamble function, it's the better choice for me.
So yeah, if a Borg lockbox with an assimilated ship or multiple ones shows up, I'm just going to repeat that method.

Dont laugh. I could see this . Imagine if you will. Instead of ships as the grand prize it is 5 diffrent items. When you get all 5 items you get your romulan faction turned on. So now every one is throwing cash at the c store for keys. And people will be unlocking this feature. But not everyone.
Oh No. Some people were unlucky snd never got all 5 pieces before the lock boxes stopped. A month or so after the lockboxes stop cryptic makes the folowing announcement. In orderto be FAIR to those who didnt win the faction pieces they can be bought for 500 cp a piece in the c store. And as an added bonus if you were unlucky enough to not win ( or even try to) any pieces you can purchase the complete unlock for 2500 cp.
Now they sucked everyone dry both ways... oh yes i csn see that. Its the ferengi thing to do

Well I have BAD news for you, there will NEVER be a Romulan Faction, ever - We had seen the writing on the wall.
So only 2 options to obtain their ships:
