If cryptic actually reduced the levelling curve again we would have more people getting to endgame and max rank actually having learnt the game, their skills and the best gear for different enemies etc instead of being rolled down a hill to max rank and then saying "how do I play?".
The rediculously fast levelling is one of my pet hates with sto and why i dont roll any new alts because their is no challenege in it anymore.
Nothing beats going into an elite stf and then someone turns round and says "why dont my guns work on the borg?" because they didn't know about the remodulator and never bothered to ask.
But hey we can hope that 1 day the levelling gets reduced or at least an option for those that want to play with a vastly reduced xp gain....one can hope....right.....right??
the only problem i have with ground is the bosses. the rest is dead easy. its almost like playing 2 different games. 99% is fine then the last 1% is a nightmare.
most pugs dont want to play the ground in the first place because they spend 30 minutes getting to the boss and then 30 minutes being killed by the boss until someone quits. so they do space.
what i would do is give a reward for getting to the boss and a reward for beating the boss. at least that way players get something for their time, and if they are good enough to beat the boss they get something extra.
the ground bosses are disproportionally harder than their space counterparts, so as it stands i really think most people outside of premade teams will ignore ground and that will make it harder for everyone to pug.
The new marks system will allow players
To spend there marks to buy anything they wish
Space gear or ground gear.

Well cure ground is hell without a veteran pre made

Good ground gear. Now you can buy this from doing
Easy short pug space missions.

Kitometer ground is kinda fun almost

The equally rewarding short space missions
Yes i think it is great that people will be able to spend their marks anyway they wish.
I'm sorry if you feel ground stfs will be lonely, but there is something you didnt consider.
The ground maps will now have much more experienced teamates, because only those who want to play them will be doing them. No more having noobs doing them just to try to get the gear. I speak from experience, because having done hundreds of space stfs, i have tried ground maps ony a few times. Why?
#1 they are extremely hard compared to space stfs.
#2 because the few times i tried, noone was helpful at all, and i got comments like "You better not be a noob", or "you guys better know how to do this"

That being said, Yes its GREAT FOR ME that i can now get the good ground gear, without having to do ground maps. And its GREAT FOR YOU not having people in your team that have no clue what to do.
There are no one shots on ground. Heavy shot from Elite drone leaves you with 0 shields and 30%-40% hp, from Armek it's like 10% hp.
It is very rare in space, but still, I think it's happens because of ping.

There will be no reason to continue ground stfs

Or they just get round to overhauling ground stuff and make ground actually work. The ground misions are so hard becuase ground combat is functinolly FUBAR.
Allow me to register my emphatic and heartfelt agreement. Ground combat in STO is only for the hardcore TRIBBLE.
Having played FPS games all the way back to DOOM2, having played various Team Fortress variants in several different leagues, I will fearlessly testify that the ground combat engine in STO does almost everything wrong.
And the ground map-making is just hideously bad. They blithely ignore every single convention and rule-of-thumb that ever was. It's like they never heard of a clipping plane, or had any idea that players should be able to walk down a hallway without getting stuck on every little piece of decorative architecture.
Well, I don't bother to read combat log to see when it crited, only saying that nothing can "one shot" you. Its even when I'm not prepared. I'm also use shield charge maco ability while drone charges his shot, but still I do it to save some hp I could survive without it. There are also shield batteries that can buff your shields.
