Into the hive is on Tribble....But what made me happy the most was....switching characters WITHOUT! logging off...It's about time I can stop fighting with my keyboard when I want to switch characters real fast.
It's the small things for me and can't wait for that to go on holodeck
The dilithium projects, as I read it, are optional methods of rep acquisition. As in, you could theoretically do the rep grind without using dilithium.
However, doing so SHOULD serve as a shortcut and basically allows you to apply time spent elsewhere (yours if you earned the dilithium and someone else's if you bought it) towards Romulan/Omega Force reputation to cut back on the time demand of Romulan specific content.
Using the Dilithium is, in a sense, saying, "Okay. I didn't spend as much time on Romulan content. But I or someone I compensated for their time DID spend a lot of time elsewhere so cut me some slack on how much time I spend on Romulan content."
Oh, if it is optional as you say, or another method of earning rep instead of grinding romulan or borg content, then thats fine.
The way Brandine made it sound, is like we would need both to progress at the same time, which would be unacceptable
I don't see it as entitlement. I think, frankly, players justly deserve a role in shaping design philosophy.
Now... Developers can and should have their own internal philosophy for things which may not agree with players' preferences.
So I guess my attitude is:
- It's not developers' job to make players happy.
- It is developers' job to have a consistent and rewarding philosophy. So if their philosophy is inconsistent or non-existent, it is fair for players to raise hell over it.
It's only entitlement if players are railing against a philosophy because they don't like it (ie. it requires more time/work/money than they care for). It's not entitlement if the developers don't have a clear philosophy or if it's inconsistent.
And even then, players are entitled to their entitlement but should be prepared to quit or pack up and uninstall if it's an issue they can't look past. Then it's the developers' job to chase those players or not.
Lol, no. You unlock it through progression through the zone and the reputation system (stated in the blog yesterday: http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=714451). I believe some inputs on some reputation "projects" may have a dilithium component, but I'm not sure if the ones for zone missions do. They may just have inputs from playing through the other content in the zone (e.g. Romulan Marks, etc.).
Cheers,

Are you kidding us, first bleed us dry with the star-base and now again a grind that will ask dilitium
don't forget that EDC / Salvage / Tech will no longer drop from STFs, therefore you can't turn those in for dilithium either (and i guess the old STF shops will go away too, they are still on tribble but i won't hold my breath that they will stay on holodeck on S7 launch).
All we get now are these Marks that will AFAIK be obsolete as soon as you hit the finish line in that Reputation UI.
Somehow i doubt that there will be a way to turn obsolete ROM / BORG Marks into Dil...
can't do it with fleet credits, why should it be possible here?
Oh also, if it doesn't matter from now on which STFs you play to get your Borg Marks... prepare to have a bad time looking for IGE and CGE groups from now on.

I really dislike this type of gamer entitlement.

The point overall is, I think, to raise the cash value of dilithium.
Which isn't bad. I mean, you could earn a C-Store ship a week if people are dilithium starved.
