While it would be nice to have a ton of fanmade ships or ships made by other games, it is too difficult to get the ships ingame. First, Cryptic has to get the permission of the artist or whoever owns the rights to it. Then they have to make it look and feel like the original. There is also the problem of which revision to use since artists sometimes go back and alter things on their ships like the Luna ship. It is much easier to create their own ships.

Also said fan designs would have to be okayed by CBS as well.... i doubt they want a ship like.... that in game.
Also, that ship is too damn big to be in STO as a Player ship.... Looks like a Soverign that began eating everything in its path... and then it got huge and fat. XD
My old Eximius-class could easily out manoeuvre that gigantic whale, and with multiple pulse cannon shots to the dorsal shields, and then 8 quantum torpedoes to the bridge she'd be out of the match!
Alternatively I'd go for her engines or just hit the ventral shields and fire quantum torps at her warpcore, she'd never be able to turn in time to take my ship out.
Still even with the Excalliber's size and lack of manoeuvrability, she's still pretty impressive.

I think it'd be a great opportunity to open up new styles of play. Its not so much a ship but a mobile spacedock, it could send waves of fighters and frigates. Maybe have a few LONG range artillery weapons too. repair and support abilities for friendly ships would also no tbe out of the question.
IMPO, the USS Overcompensation. I do not like it. Back looks too stair-steppish. And when I see a ship that looks similar to an existing ship, but bigger, it leads me to believe that the artist believes in the "bigger is better" mantra, which is not always the case. Further to this point:
This ship is by far the largest vessel in service in Starfleet and it is too large to enter Starfleet's Spacedock type Starbases' internal bay.
Translation: It's huge! It's better because it's HUGE!

The Excalibur class was submitted at the same time as the Sovereign class. Both ships were roughly equal in proposed specs. The Sovereign was approved while the Excalibur was put on hold.
Following the Borg attack of 2371, Starfleet re-opened the Excalibur files. They altered the ship from Explorer/Battleship specs to include rapid response abilities, increasing the size of the vessel by nearly 50%.
How would one "increase the size of the vessel by nearly 50%"? Ship designs can't be resized like a jpg. It would need a completely new design in order to plan decks, calculate hull stress, calculate raw materials required, etc. It's structural engineering, not Photoshop.
Finally:
Weapons were slightly scaled back though as was crew needed for those systems. In their place was put facilities for Covert Ops Teams, Marines, and even Diplomatic and Medical personnel. In the event of a medical emergency, these spaces could be configured for emergency medical care, and thus the ship is equipped with no less then 4 separate EMH programs. Only the Hope class Medical Ship and Starbases carry as many independent EMH programs.
Is it a Medical Ship? Battle Cruiser? Diplomatic Ship? Deep Strike vessel? (kind of large and obvious as the latter, but hey, Covert Ops!)

Personally, at least in the Kobayashi Maru mod, I found the Excalibur's sensors were the most vulnerable thing. They had ridiculously low health, and there's a blind spot where only one weak phaser can hit you that gives you a perfect shot at them. Anything that can get through the ventral shields can take out the sensors with a photon torpedo, and the AI basically just gives up and wanders around while you slowly disassemble the ship from there.
Actually, I believe there was a version of the Constitution they made that was kind of a step between the original TOS Constitution and the Motion Picture revamp that the designers dubbed the EXCALIBUR class.
Never seen on screen, it was just something the modellers came up with, so it wouldn't be canon, but it seems to me it would be far more canon than that hideous monstrosity.

If iam not mistaken that is a Bridge Commander model, which is and many other designs are very interesting. Another great title that had great concepts that should be apart of this title.

Id love to see the Pathfinder Class in game. I used to do sims with Federation Sim Fleet and I remember fondly using this ship as the background to our Roleplaying.
Obviously another my ship is bigger and better then yours design. But the overall visual design is very appealing to me.
