STOs Executuve producer complaining about bad reviews on the internet

Since I'm using steam to manage my games, I've seen an interesting article I'd like to share with other players.

In this article, Dan Stahls is complaining about the rating system, and especially the average marks STO got at launch. Indeed, these reviews are unchanded since day one.

I've been looking for more recent reviews to see if pros think the game has improved, and I found one very interesting because it relates pretty well about the current state of the game and expresses what many player says with their own words on the forums, in polls, etc.

The game has changed since its launched, and there's been a lot of improvements, and it's still pretty far away from a genuine Star Trek experience, and it doesn't deserve more than 5.9/10 according to this reviewer. I'm not a pre-F2P player, but I know many of them and I know that many critical issues have been adressed, but many major ones haven't.

Sadly, I'm not sure the game would deserve better grades because what the article stated is true: most of the new content and queues are meaningless - except stories, and this might explain why people are so badly asking for more FEs. Season 6 made this even more visible, it's like we were given "content" to appease us but I sometimes feel that we were given S6 queues like you give some food to a dog to make him silent for a few minutes. Season 6 added a lot of meaningless and mindless content. Indeed, nothing in season 6 will require you to use your brain. You can queue up to fight some klingon ships, some romulans, some breen, but why would you do that anyway? There's zero purpose beyond farming and getting gear/marks.

What the game needs is a lot more depth but instead of that we're given new ships with nothing new to do and when we're given some new content it's just repetitive and boring queues without anything at stake. I know the devs want to create a game for very casual players, but it doesn't mean it has to be stupid and without any purpose, and for this I believe the game wouldn't deserve a better rating above average+. So, actually, the current review system can do great justice to MMOs, if you are really ready to listen to it.

inb4 foundry: no, it's not the core of the game and it will remain something apart because it's not the kind of stuff a mmo needs.
