what ever happened to talking about giving all Pay to Win activated console powers a shared global cooldown in an effort to balance them out?

is this still even being talked about? why has it not happened?

this would help solve some issues with P2W being too effective for no loss, and i remember quite a few threads only a few months ago there were a ton of good ideas... what happened?


whatever happened to giving pvp matches fleet marks? THIS is still a major issue too, yet not a word since it was mentioned and discussed when starbases came out. now it sounds like this still wont happen, why?

Wheres the update on this?

    Applauds the effort.
    The same that happened to leaderboards, freighter sorties, fixing kerrat, the de-cloak bug, .....all working as intended.

    Activation of any boff/captain power initiates a 1 min gcd on all cstore consoles. Equipping one that gives a passive boost disables all other powers and shields also.

    PWE decided to go the quick $ route, is what happened. Instead of building a balanced fun game that will keep people happy in PVP for years, they decided to milk every last dollar out of the game before it crashes & burns. At least, thats what it looks like to me. Balance is a thing of the past. P2W is where its at now, unfortunately. I remember how they lied about how rare lockbox ships would be. Have you ever been in a match without one in the last year?
    I've been in several matches lately where my Kar-Fi is the ONLY non lockbox ship.:(

    Even a small 15-sec global would be an improvement.

    I know the feeling. I'm flying around in lowly C-Store ships (a couple fleet ships and a bortasqu) surrounded by timeships and recluses. It's gotten just plain silly that they continue to ride the "very rare" matra anymore. If they would put them in the c-store I would buy the ones I wanted. As it is, I won't gamble on lockboxes at all. Not a wise-way for a budget-minded person to spend their money and a good way to lock out a good sized portion of the potential player-base.

    We've looked into this, but are worried that it would deflate the tactical value of some consoles.

    For example, I personally love to use Subspace Jump and Vent Theta in quick succession. If that was no longer an option, I doubt I'd have either console equipped at all. Either on their own don't interest me for my particular playstyle.

    That's not to say that it's completely off the table. But it's probably a better idea to take a look at which combos might be considered overpowered, and look into the reasons for that on a case-by-case basis.

    i don't think the shared cool down is necessarily needed, only a few of the consoles are really PTW and its just due to trier own effect, not their effect with other console powers.

    speaking of theta, its nearly harmless except for killing your crew completely dead in 5 seconds. its damage to shields is nearly non existent, and its snare potential isn't even half of EWP. since it got stopped stacking an unlimited amount, its really been terrabad.

    what about reclassifying the consoles as no longer universal but instead figuring out the "type" of consoles they would be, ie a tacitcal console or a science console or an engineering console? this way you have a "hard" choice on equipijng them over extra armor/shields/dps?

    imho shared cooldown is OBSOLETE here because the consoles usually have a HUGE cooldown on their own already 3 - 5 minutes is a PITA as it is, and almost makes any of the c-store consoles worthless in my eyes.... almost.
    if you have 4 or 5 of those consoles a global cooldown would totally cripple you.

    Counting the LobiStore and Odyssey/Bortas'qu Sets a high number of special consoles is easily reached.

    It wouldn't necessarily have to be that all consoles put all others on cool down. It could be a shared cool down on related systems. Supposedly Evasives and the Impulse Cell shared a cool down at some point (although I've heard using one resets the cool down on the other in some situations). Using Warp Plasma might put Theta on cool down similar to Extend Shields and RSP.

    Making these consoles fully universal was one of the biggest blows to balance. That they could be stacked and used without interacting with existing abilities made the game even more spammy. Making them usable on any ship just seemed ... trollish.
