I have to say that i haven't used the Foundry since before it was broken and i haven't had the desire nor the will to go back into creating anything.

My largest problem with the Foundry at the moment is that Cryptic hasn't allowed or placed many of the really really great missions, that could be considered Episodes that have been lacking to obtaining REAL rewards which we are told is on its way. As well, i would welcome even utilizing the Foundry for the purpose of filling in that content drought and dont is which turns me off and why i dont play them at the moment.

My god, does your ship have shields? I can't control how the mission scales. They are easy mobs for most players. Do you have skill points distributed on your Fed toon? I also can't put a transwarp door to eta eridani. Thanks for playing though.

Nope, no skill points distributed that I know of, am certain that Cheyenne class still has stock weapons on it too. The loser captain hasn't left ESD in 4 months, wadda expect ? Thankfully I found I had a Har'pheng in inventory , so I mounted it REARward while running from them Vorchas and Norgh's.

Of the dozen or so Foundry missions I have played, only 2 were what I would consider "good", the rest were a complete waste of time. All of those I played were rated 4 or 5 stars??

Poorly thought out plots and storylines, bad dialog, tons of glitches or unbalanced fights, continuity errors, and the list goes on...

As such, I won't play Foundry missions again.

What i have found with the foundry as well is that it is restricted heavily which iam not sure if it is because of Cryptic or CBS lawyers.

I felt the same way when I finished completing all the game missions. I had no interest in playing foundry, but decided to try it out anyway. After playing a few missions, I got into it. I really like the fact that fellow star trek fans are the ones creating the missions. I played quite a few that have references to episodes and characters on the tv shows. There are great foundry missions that are better than some of the game missions. Now I play foundry missions all the time. I recommend you try at least 1

I've skipped a few pages of this so forgive me if I'm covering old ground.

Having two (a whole two) lvl 50 characters, one Fed, one Klingon and having played most of the content this game has to offer (barring Defera and Nukara 'cause you can't fully experience those without teaming and the rewards are pitiful) - I've finally gotten around to making my first Foundry mission (woot!) - but I don't play them.

    Why?

A few reasons - firstly, nothing aggravates me more than sloppy writing - both in terms of storytelling (plot holes) and good grammar/spelling. And the Foundry is rife with this.

Secondly, I didn't start playing STO to read Star Trek stories - I signed up to play them - to explore, investigate and yes - to blow up new life-forms and new civilizations. It may not be in the spirit of Trek (and I am a fan of the shows and the movies) but it makes for interesting game play.

Lastly, there's no way for me to tell what I'm getting out of a Foundry mission - I don't want to play any missions that are going to take more than 45 mins or so of my time. And frankly, I don't see why there needs to be missions that run to 2 or 3 hours - that's just crazy - the show was after all what? 40 mins?

I'd love to see an official list of the best the Foundry has to offer - right here on the STO website (or better still, in-game) - something that lists how long the mission takes, what kind of mission it is (story/combat heavy), a decent synopsis that reveals enough of the plot for me to decide whether I want to invest my time in playing it and multiple ratings for stuff like:

Quality (is it polished and 'professional'?)
    Story (is it compelling?)
    Action (is it exciting?)
Challenge (is it going to challenge me as a player?)
Mechanics (does it do anything original or clever with the tools?)
    Teamplay (does it scale well?)
Please join our peaceful protest to help make STO a better game

many wont use the foundry because like most people they like to play official or canon elements . some people are staunch trekkers but only like the tv series , and dont like the movies and some like those but hate the books .i think its the same with foundry its just some geeks over active imagination and not underlined in any official way so is just fanzine content =p.

What is any science fiction but some geek's over active imagination? Is fiction created by someone who is hired to do it better or more legitimate than someone who spends their free time to do it without compensation? Sort of a question everyone has to answer for themselves.

Anyway waylandjuarez, if you're looking for detailed Foundry recommendations, I have a few suggestions. Spotlight missions, obviously, but also:

    Evil70ths In Depth Reviews:
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=276951

Take a scroll through that thread, these tend to be very good missions, and are quite often improved after their in-depth review, so you, the player, get the benefits of the end results of Evil70th's advice.

Also this whole forum is for folks to announce missions:
    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/forumdisplay.php?f=210

Your mileage may vary as to whether they live up to their announcements.

At StarbaseUGC we have things like Foundry Files, Primetime UGC, Duke of Rock's mission reviews and more to give you some recommendations.
