Everyone know staffing up is a precursor to failure! I can't think of a single company that's ever closed that didn't hire people sometime before that! Can you!?
They have specifically named new hires as well as which ex-gaming companies they came from. Its great to see them recognize that talent and act quickly to recruit the cream of the crop! Maybe you should make a thicker tinfoil hat.
i dont beleave anything STO public relations claim anymore , neither should you
I see. Well if STO does shut down like you suggested earlier, the PR people are going to be the ones who make the announcement. That means you wont believe it

Whether the game is canon or not, canon items sell better than original work simply because the fans are more familiar with it. However that has nothing to do with the point of this thread, which is that soon the canon designs will be running out, meaning we will see more original designs.
Assuming 6-8 C-Store ships per year it will be well more then a year before canon ships are completely used up - I can easily name a half-dozen canon ships that aren't in the game yet. The Lockbox ships don't really count toward that as they tend to be the off-Faction ships. So they can be anything from any Faction.
I would love to see more original designs, but I can understand that original ships probably don't sell as well to the Trek fans as canon ships. It's easier to even market soft-canon ships like the Vista and Merian then it probably is to market something completely new.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
They have been releasing some pretty neat stuff on a pretty regular basis.
Unfortunately, they're moving from a c-store model to a lockbox model, so it's gonna cost you 100 times more to get your ship.

That must be why the STO team has been hiring a bunch of new people

More like 10 unless you have 10 alts.
There is literally 20 Canonical and Semi Canonical ships yet to be added to STO. (Two KDF Canonical ships as well).
So they still got a ways to go before they run out of canonical ships.
