DPS Question

I would buy VA disruptor s the dps is like 230 plus but it seems like when i asked a question about beams everyone goes with phasers or anti protons with less dps when it comes to beams i am confused. I am looking for weapons and a combination that will drop shields fast when i enter the war zone.

the fastest way to drop shields is probably a tetryon build with skilled flow capacitor and 2 piece omega set, or a phaser proc.

but to drop shields fast is the same thing as dealing a lot of dmg, and that nearly all weapon types do the same.
so it's more aquestion of a good ship setup in general, and not so much the weapon you use.
