Might I suggest checking your social menu in MWO and joining me and mavairo and some others for some stompy robot fun?
Just got my Beta invite to MWO ( I got it a week ago, I should check my Email more often.) I'll be signing up tomorrow, I'm hoping for the name Bot Fly, but I'll let you know what i get.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Time played in game. as of 9/12/12 (on my mains) Total 2907 hours.K'zoontite has been on active duty for 34 days, 3 hours, Bot Fly has been on active duty for 55 days, 4 hours, Poppa Capp has been on active duty for 4 days, 12 hours, B'zooka has been on active duty for 12 days, 22 hours,Tater(fed) has been on active duty for 14 days, 10 hours,
So if I had to choose one founders mech, what would you guys suggest?
The OP by sheer versatility one. the Catapult of course.
Give her an XL engine after your first few matches (I recommend staying with the standard engine for a good while till you get used to playing), and up her armor if you plan on fighting in the thick of it at all.
The foundercat is a great versatile chassis I've found. Can go either long (my Long range variant is 2 large lasers 2 LRM10s), or short, (my shorty has 2 flamers, 2 medium pulse lasers, and 2 SRM6s), or medium ranged.

yeah I love my lrm kitty and k2 (catapult frame). It's really hard for me to adjust being in the background all the time still, the playstyle is quite different than my STO escorts. For you perhaps also consider a hunchback (it's a medium weight mech and considered a fast attack soldier), and after sometime modify it up. They just did an economy revision that creates a little more grind than people are liking, so upgrades for newbies take a while.

Ive settled in with 2 lrm10's, and 4 mediums. Im using 11 heatsinks to keep my lasers rolling, and the rest armor. I tried the large laser setup, but kept getting rushed to quickly. I find the mediums to be a better fit for the range im fighting once i let loose all my missiles. So far, it seems to be doing well.

My Steam Group friends are playing MWO. I suppose I'll have to join into the frey as well. At least that game has PVP that is good and so far it seems like balance means something. there.
My internetz are slow today, been patching the MWO client for over an hour & I'm only like 30% done. My Monster-In-Law is coming to stay for ahwile tonight so I'm going to have to do some last minute dusting & such. I'll log into MWO tomorrow & check it out. (If the clients done patching by then:eek:)

yeah, to be fair, I havent played an online game yet that balances pvp and pve all that well. when you play a game that is only pvp, then balance usually is pretty well maintained. I was hugely disappointed in TOR for this reason and came to the conclusion to never get my hopes up on any games balance that tries to do both.
Oh noooo, we have no boxed mecs there... What we're gonna do... Seriously now, I wonder what the benefits of being a paying member vs regular are, other than the mecs you get extra. I've played for few rounds 2 month-ish ago but never seemed to find the sweet spot between damage armor and overheat. And I also hated that once I got killed, I couldn't respawn. Lol. Guess I got used to sto style...

Also prometheus, all you need to do is patch. It will do it automatically.
But it was in a good cause.
We all know HE isn't going to be fixed before Christmas anyway, no matter if this thread gets to 1000 pages or not.

It's cleansing every tick, as intended. I believe the effect that you are witnessing is the fact that the Plasma's debuff is still applying, even if it gets cleansed <1sec later by an ongoing HE buff. This is working as designed.
At least, that's what I'm seeing internally. Is it behaving differently than this on Holodeck?

Yes. The issue is after the 1st Tic or so H.E. doesn't remove additional debuffs. I've moved out of EWP clouds via APO, had H.E. tic for 5+ seconds and never remove the debuff. It's not like before where there was a start and stop round robin between effects. I haven't tested to see if it's everytime, but I can't remember the last time H.E. cleansed after the 1st tic.

before you could dig yourself out of a plasma cloud by just running HE before the cleanse period ran out, now it seems like only the first tic will clear it. thats strange that its different internally. maybe the last patch un-buged it?
i like it better like that anyway, its a counter to whats afflicting you, but it doesn't make you immune to stuff over a period of time. that immunity takes a ton of value out of the skills its cleared by. this is especially true with TT and attack paters and FOMM. the clear from HE and the team skills really should only clear for a single second. maybe APB needs to be changed to a single application per target skill, and not get reapplied every shot with a change to TT being a 1 second clear. if it was applied every shot, TT would do nothing against APB. these changes would be for the best though.

Thanks for looking into it borticus
On a side note, how do i go about putting an xl motor in a cat? it says it takes 12 crit slots which my cat doesnt even have close to enough of
have you guys tried a dragon? I think thats the next chassis Im gonna try
either something changed then, or imdoinitwrong. it shows i need 12 slots to equip it, and my center torso only has 12 slots total. my gyro takes up 4 leaving only 8 slots to equip a normal 6 slot engine with 2 slots to spare. If theres a way to do it, i really want to know. the extra capacity would sure be nice
edit: now that im looking at it, once i unequip my engine, the red lettered warning of not enough slots goes away and only leaves a "not enough c-bills" warning. Even though when I drag it over, it clearly shows 12 slots that wont fit on the torso, maybe its just a pre-release bug. how much speed will I gain going from a normal 260 to an xl 310? is it worth the extra bills? I'd still gain an extra 2 much needed heat sink slots over the normal engine
First tic only.
You can clearly see the debuff on the hull --> hit HE ---> debuff clears --> debuff reapplies ---> HE still active ---> debuff remains constantly active.
In the first instance in the video, I actually drift out of the cloud with HE active and the debuff still remains.
[Notice the lack of the green, 'clearing hazard debuffs' buff bar icon that appeared the first time you fixed this issue.]
Borticus, this was the behavior before:
1- you are in warp plasma
2- plasma dot and proc applies
3- you fire hazard emitters
4- plasma proc and dot is cleared
5- if after at the next tick you're still in the warp plasma, dot and proc is reapplied
6- at the next tick, if HE is still active, dot and proc is cleared and so on
7- if you manage to get outside the warp plasma, proc and dot is still active for an amount of time but if HE is still active, it's cleared.
Ok since last patch, point 7 of the above list is broken.
It seems to me that HE is clearing warp plasma proc while you're inside the cloud, but does not work anymore when you manage to escape.

Unequip your old one.
Also there is a size limit on XLs you can equip on given mechs. an XL270 (at least as of the previous patch) will go right on in with no issue.
Dragons... they don't have enough guns or armor.. their speed isn't -that- much better. They kind blow.
