my stuff is gone!!!

sorry if this is posted in the wrong area...but anyways...

so i started an STO account around a year and a half ago, only managed to play for 2-3 months when some stuff happened and i couldnt continue playing. now im finally able to get back online, i downloaded the game again, and got all set and when i logged in, i have no account...it takes me to the character creation area...is there any way to get my account back??? or do i have to start over?? i really hope i dont, i spent money on my account. :(:(:(:(

    First off, welcome back!

    Second, try and log back in and let me know what happens. If you have not played in a while, your characters may be in the back-up databases and should reappear when you log back in -- we never delete character data.

    While you are trying that, are you using the "Cryptic" or "Perfect World" radio button on the launcher/ in-game?

    out of curiosity can old characters be restored like over a year or so old?

    did your character marry my ex wife?
    because that would explain alot
