Honestly. The fed fighters I've seen don't last that long with lots of things going boom. I just spam mine out. Even if it un-summons one or two of them. I do fly the escort carrier though, so I don't have as many to manage. I think of them as almost unlimited fighter summons. Yes you would not want to be a fighter pilot on my ship XD.
Former L2 player. Hope this one is better with botters, got sick of one person running a full 9 man group.

Seconding this - I've got the targeting reticle turned on so I can see how many are floating around, but the Peres are so crunchy that trying to heal them seems to be a waste of effort. Even the Danubes and Deltas have a low enough recast at bottom AUX to be spammable. (Speaking as an Armitage pilot Fed-side and a Vo'Quv pilot KDF-side. If I don't have a swarm, I'm not happy.)
Awesome thanks so much for the help. Yeah I just wanted so see a number. They die so easily it doesn't seem worth the real estate on the screen to show health. I knew there had to be something. Thanks for the heads up!

You horrible person. How can you sleep at night knowing you send your npcs to their deaths? You should be ashamed. That's it, I'm gonna go play StarCraft, you made me so pissed... (proceeds to play StarCraft and sends dozens of wraiths and vikings to die against the zerg).
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
And I still don't get the whole 'attack' thingy. Do you have to press that for every new target? For every new set-launch? Manual would be nice, every now and then.

The Attack, Escort, Intercept, and Return orders are "better than nothing" targeting. There is so much more that could be done with it - like allowing different orders for each hangar bay (for example, I might want my drones to attack and my BoPs to intercept) - that I remain somewhat frustrated. I find myself saying, in almost every match, "well it's better than nothing". Most of the time, I find myself wondering exactly what the hell my pets are actually up to.

Yeah. EVE Online may be harsh and unfriendly, at least they got their drones layout in order. In STO you have to go to a special menu, deeply hidden somewhere, to even *see* your fighters.

No, just click it once. You will see the command stays highlighted. Fighters already launched, as well as those newly spawned will continue to attack your targets until you issue another command. Unless your target is at a distance greater than 10 Km, then they will do whatever they want.

In the HUD section of options. Go down to I think it is Allies, NPC. Press that and press show health.
That should show their place and health. I don't have health on, I just spam them as fast as I can. :P

I just have the Distance thing on, then I can just count them.

Can't stop laughing because of this.
