If my romulan character can't fly romulan ships then they shouldn't even bother with the faction as far as i'm concerned. That would just be silly.
Agreed. I don't want a mini faction and then be forced to join one side or the other. I want a Vice Admiral level D'Deridex Warbird. I don't care if that means starting at level 22 like the KDF. Granted I WANT a full faction, but I know that dream isn't going to happen anytime soon.
Let us upgrade the Seleya Ceremonial Lirpa and Kri'stak Blade

It might if enough players stood together and said that is how they wanted it.
I know given how many time the answer to this regarding the KDF is something along the lines of "one of these days" Science skill balance is "if we have the time" but unlike some things in the game I think this is something that could be done.

You really think so? I think getting KDF unique content is more realistic. It seems a lot of Romulan fans have their heads in the clouds if they think Cryptic will dedicate itself to doing an entire faction from scratch when they already have a half completed one with fans who pay Zen for items and such right now. I bought my lifetimer for KDF development, only reason I did apart from a few bonuses like increased storage slots.
Playable Romulan species on existing factions is achievable in the short-term, a playable Romulan faction is at least 12 months away from starting development, if not more. I'm sorry to say.
I too would like to play the Romulans (Hirogen for the win) but not at the expense of the KDF who were here first and promises have been made for years but yet unfulfilled.

Ok. And getting KDF on par first has been something I have said needs to be done. You only need to read some of my posts in the voting thread. My post was simply to say that if enough players are clear in what they want then hopefully we will see it instead of some halfway finished thing that next to no one will be happy with. That we should remember what has been said in the past, but not to always assume that this isn't a chance to help steer the content.
I voted for Romulans, but I think Cryptic really needs to clarify what that means. If it means shoehorning Romulans into the Fed and KDF, then NUTS TO THAT -- many would change their vote to something better like finish out the KDF.

It is Cryptic's nature to be intentionally cryptic. Like Fox Mulder once said: "I didn't lie. I willfully participate in a campaign of misinformation."
Jack Emmert: "Starfleet and Klingon. ... So two factions, full PvE content." Al Rivera hates Klingons Star Trek Online: Agents of Jack Emmert All cloaks should be canon.

This specualtion is going to be for naught if we do not let PWE and Cryptic know that as customers we expect more than oddly clingy protective measures to save our online friends and lower the disruptive possibilties of the fleets we belong to in STO.
What is going to happen to the playerbase of STO if STO does not grow?
Are we expected to just sit around wallet inhand waiting for the next lockbox, missions or other bit of fluff to come down the marketing pipeline or are we going to see this game grow to a maturity that allows us to explore it, enjoy it and revel in it to the point it moves beyond the fears and excuses of the past to become one of the greats of the MMO genre?
A third faction will not cause the player issues, a lack of content will though, slow growing content will though, nothing to do but DOff grind all of ones toons for dilithium and grind fleet marks will.
Eventually my friendships and the fleets I belong to will be disrupted becuase of boredom and a lack of growth.
Voting for the Romulans does not mean a full Romulan faction.. I....I am so angry about this,...<ARGH> I would finish my statement but dont want to get "taken away/disappeared" by the powers that be.
While I enjoy my KDF toons, I voted for playable Romulans, meaning a Romulan faction. Reason: If I want to play a KDF mission, the Foundry is full of them. if I want to play a Romulan, I am out of luck.
Your out of luck becuase the RSE does not have an official faction in STO, only.
The foundry has several Romulan missions in it, or so I have been told by some RSE fans.
I get the feeling that most of the people voting for playable Romulans:
A: Weren't around at launch.
B: Didn't play KDF at launch.
C: Have forgotten how little there was to do in KDF at launch. Don't realize that 3/4 of the stuff the Romulans use is presently broken in the game, with half of it being claimed as 'working as intended', and the other having no ETA on a fix.

Feel free to choose more than one.
Considering how easy it is to cheat the poll, any number of entries could be "padded" by fake votes.
Voted for KDF content, as much as i'd like to see more STFs, content is the rarest of currencies in Cryptic's wallet.
I don't understand the desire for a Romulan faction as STO stands today. It'd be, at best a mini faction with 5 to 10 levels. I doubt they'd even go back and alter FEs to make them Rom missions as they did for the KDF and Feds.
The better way to vote is a ingame poll. Each toon can vote only one time, to choose any prefered option.
Is really fair? Yes, because you are voting with your own wallet and free will. More toons you have with your account, more money or time you spended to refine dilithium and convert to zen you to take the right to vote.
The most part of the game base only have one (fed) toon or two (one fed and one kdf toon), but if anyone have three or more toons with any faction, can have the right of another vote.
Using a ingame poll is better, because the devs can analise each vote, to know the time of your toon, the faction, how much zen your spend on him and any important information to learn about people and the voted option.
Is better and more pratical in relation of a web pool, but have a lot of more work to code and made a custom ui and place a ingame patch to make decent and clear vote. But can reveal a lot of precise information for anyone to the dev and commercial staff of Crypt/PW, to know better how to invest your resources to make a better and well wanted product to eyes of the STO playerbase.
This can happen? Thinking better, no, because the Devs want to do your own work, but have to follow orders from Crypt/PW management and planning staff, and the players and customers want is not the same as the administration of a business (Crypt/PW) wishes to offer to us.
Good point. Still, I don't understand why anyone would vote for a third faction when the second one isn't even finished yet.
They are fans, voting with their hearts rather than their brains. Can't fault them for that. But do we really think anything will come from that poll? I don't think it will. Cryptic will do what they want, not what their paying customers who keep them in a job wants.

This is spot on. Cryptic and PWE really have the entirely wrong mentality for a company. I've done business studies when I was younger and the most important rules of business is:
Customers and employees are the most important assets of a business
Supply and Demand, find what your customers want and find a way to give it to them and turn a profit
1 happy customer will tell 10 people about your product and business, 1 unhappy customer will tell like 100 people (through other people of course).
I look at these then at Cryptic and PWE and I can't see them doing any of this, they don't listen to us, ignore a good portion of their customer base (aka KDF) and release stuff we don't want like Starbase grind, more Federation fluff and so on rather than what people seem to really want being KDF content and more missions for both factions.

Not to mention if the Romulans get a full faction on par with Feds! wow!
Exploration and PvP too

May not happen, Ask Cryptic

Yes, kinda like playing as a KDF toon with little official PvE choices. Then again I support a stand alone RSE faction for STO.
Though the Foundry KDF choices are excellent.
