So I just noticed this update from
Raptr's G+ page and thought I should repost it here for anyone that doesn't already use Raptr (or G+
)...
New to the Starfleet? Raptr has the bundle for you. Gamers ranked
Newbie or above in Star Trek Online are now able to earn a promotional gift box through this exclusive Raptr Reward!
The Bridge Officer Bundle contains:
- Consumable item that grants 2,500 EXP
- Pack of 5000 Raw Dilithium
- Random Rare ?Purple? tiered weapon (space or ground)
- Pack of random ?self? dual consumables
- Pack of random ?team? dual consumables
(interesting that there's no actual Bridge Officer listed in the Bridge Officer Bundle)
and for those that have logged in more hours in STO through Raptr...
Rank hath its privileges. Gamers ranked Experienced or above in Star Trek Online can now earn the Gumato pet, exclusive through this Raptr promotion.
(I'm not sure if they actually mean "Mugato" instead of "Gumato")
These promotions begin on 9/04/2012.
The requirements for these promotions are that you must be using Raptr (this should be obvious, but you know,
some people...), you must have a connected Facebook account, and you must be ranked in Raptr as a STO as a
Newbie (pretty much just log in to STO while you've got Raptr running) or higher for the Bridge Officer Bundle, or
Experienced (top 60% of STO players that use Raptr) or higher for the "Captain's Critter" bundle.
For those of you that don't know what Raptr is, well
here's the about page for it. Consider it like Steam's overlay/interface where you can launch all your games, see your online friends and see what they're playing, except it works across all games (not just Steam games), and across platforms (it not only covers PC games, but also Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo, and even web games).
Oh, and they sometimes give you deals and free stuff based on the games you play (like this STO promo)
EDIT: oh, and here's the actual Raptr promotion pages for the
Bridge Officer Bundle and
Captain's Critter Bundle

I linked my steam profile with the Raptr website and immediately got into the Elite 10% bracket for STO. Not that you need much to get into that bracket ^^.
Its reporting that over 37,000 other people are part of this community. Interesting, although I can't see any concurrent user graphs or stuff like that. =( (Champions has over 73,000 people).

LTS, here since...when did this game launch again?

Same here, I stopped using steam a long time ago. Unfortunately my game time is inaccurate. I don't think I will be able to get that time from in game directly considering core still isn't hooked up. Unless......

Yeah, that's an interesting question. Because although they eventually filmed everybody saying "Mugato", the original script called for "Gumato". DeForest Kelley screwed the line up so many times, they eventually gave up correcting him and just changed the script to "Mugato".
So a Gumato pet would be an interesting thing to have.
However, it's been several months since the 800 day vets got our Mugatos, so it could very well be that it's just that. Which is fine; Raptr is free, and the other bundle is pretty sweet for a free reward.
Not necessarily launched through; but while Raptr is running. It should detect a running STO, but I always launch through Raptr, just to be sure. It sucks when you play for six hours and then realize you never launched Raptr at all.
Also, if you have STO installed through Steam, Raptr launches that version, so you get your Steam stats at the same time. They don't, in my experience, conflict.
Ok, thnx for the info.

The opinions expressed in my posts are my own views and do not reflect on any other entity(s) or person(s) I may or may not represent at the time.
Raptr was one of the options that we were supposed to be able to link with through the /socialmedia command that never quite worked right through beta and launch and was supposed to enable us to track gameplay and post screenshots to Twitter, Facebook and Raptr... directly from the game. Eventually they just gave up working on it around April of 2010.
...which is weird, because apparently Champions Online had no issues with it at all.
This feature would have allowed us to Tweet or post to Facebook or track through Raptr whenever we got an achievement on the linked toons. Although the achievement tracking never worked, gameplay tracking did work on Raptr (if you set it up through Raptr instead of in-game), and if you so desire, you can set up Raptr to tweet your gameplay status or post it to Facebook (I've got mine set up to give out a daily report of what games I played in the last 24 hours to Twitter, and I have my facebook account set up to look for what I post on Twitter and parrot it on the FB wall... take that, Zynga lovers!).
So... Raptr alone got most of the integration working for STO... minus achievement tracking. On a vaguely related note, Raptr picks up Champions Online achievements just fine, although I'm not entirely sure if it's just mirroring the Steam Achievements (which also works with CO and not STO). That's right, Raptr tracks your Steam stuff too!

It's not a contest, reaper; if you meet the requirements (which are based on how many hours you've played with Raptr tracking), you get the rewards. So you're not depriving anybody if you fire it up.
It tracked some Champs time played when I hopped over there for a little bit, but nothing for STO....

Good thing my FB is for trashy things like this anyways. Getting rid of this app right after I get my shinies... And mark my words - I bet this'll be a single unlock anyways (pet for just one char and no more...).
EDIT:
Make that four OS crashes...
Edit: Managed to link FB
No rewards however. . . I supposed I need to D/L the app do I?
I don't think the rewards for STO are live yet. The'll probably wait till after the patch and some announcement to flip the switch.
