Me personally because:
1) I find feds too goody-two-shoes a.l.a root-beer
2) My male orion captain can be shirtless and fabulous! :P
3) The BIRD-OF-PREYs

so.. whats your excuse to play kdf??? :D

EDIT:
damn.. this should go to klingon gameplay.. how do I move thread?

We still live!!!!! Hahahahahahahahaa! We live and we will conquer!!!!! Hahahahahaaha!

Killing stuff left and right isn't very "Starfleet" IMHO. Like this one Episode where you help a Romulan ship vs some Borg and find out later the Romulans are researching Borg technology. In the end, you can either let them go (one option), or kill them (two options). When beaming off the Romulan ship, where's the option to also beam the Borg stuff along with me? Where's the option to beam it into space and hit it with a torpedo afterwards? Sure it would be stealing, but it would be stealing for the greater good and have only diplomatic repercussions. It would be the Starfleet way.

With the alpha quadrant being in the state it is in, it shouldn't make the Klingons mindless killers either, but their fuses are shorter and their fingers trigger happier. The Klingon empire feels relatively well placed, where the Federation along with its ideals doesn't.

Because they have the only ship that can fire while cloaked. They have a strict code of honour and if they act dishonorably you can put them to death.
    They have better looking ships.

No worries, most people who check Klingon Gameplay check Klingon Fleetyards at the same time.

The Federation is great and all, and I do love playing my various Tellarites, but to me the Klingon Empire makes alot more sense of how things would actually be. Constant fighting and everyone vying for what little scraps of power they can snag. So the politics in the Empire I enjoy more.

The KDF allows more liberty towards role play, by more easily allowing me to play as a pirate or a merchant, which I prefer towards a military official. In the military you have to take orders, you don't have that freedom, so it doesn't make sense that you are in the U.S.S. Jimminy Cricket flying around doing what you want, however if you are a pirate, it makes sense.

Finally I enjoy the cosmetic looks of the KDF ships much better. The sad thing is, I HATE the Klingon design, so I hate all those free ships you get. I think that is another thing that is keeping the KDF's numbers down, the only ships you get for free are Klingon (and for the most part, not customizeable past coloring). You don't get Orion, Nausican, or Gorn ships, which are the ones that are pretty, i'm not the only one with this opinion. Giving an extra non-Klingon ship option avaliable at each free spot would help the community out.

    1. Awesome ship designs (dont like at all the luxury junk saucer fed designs even in movies i find them silly and outdated 70's saucer designs)
    2. The lore (more honor fighting less exploration)
    3. Unique console(thats a reason to play federation also because fed got unique console also)
    4. Friends that i have in KDF side
    5. The ship designs again! its like trying to compare a 747 with an f-16.
    6. Characters look better also more customization more combat gear less fancy cloths.

    You want more reasons?

If it wasnt the KDF i wouldnt stick with STO

    My reasons:

The allure of being the 'bad guy' (though i guess at times anti-hero?)

Though less; better species choices (never cared for rigelians bolian vulcans etc etc ETC!), having said that nausicans and letheans are hideous. meh.

More interesting ship classes, something about being able to tinker with a BoP or shred in a raptor. None of this Flying Saucer with engines design :D (having said that the nausican fish are a bit.. bleugh) K'tingas.. says enough :)

Coin toss between Maco armor set or KHG set? CAPE ALL THE WAY.

Flying in a carrier because it kinda makes sense for the Klingon (a war/conquering/domination minded species) would use weapons of such make. Federation having people act as death fodder in their runabout pets? heck no.. (yes ds9 made it cannon in episodes like the final ones, but so un-star fleet.) But we even have orions in our faction, they are slavers that use carrier tactics! i mean come on!!!

KDF seems more appropriate faction for the style of STO. The federation was supposed to be an organisation of science exploration and keeping the peace. Not waging wars and having the captain of the enterprise being a moron who would more likely shoot someone rather than negotiate. *cough* second wave *cough*...
    - Take 'operation gamma' a federation captain can happily murder farek, she is in a damaged vessel with a crew of how many? and the we get the option to muder in cold blood? Completely wrong in my opinion, if we were Terran empire? Hell yes. UFP? Hell no.

Starting Hub the first city of qu'o'nos, fed? some stuffy old space dock. I choose the city ^^.

Playerbase of the KDF genreally (seeing how we need to be level 25 to play for a start -.-) are more experianced, less 'noobish' pardon my use of the term, less selfish in battle (cross healing in stfs), and can almost always string together a coherent sentence
My heart will always sink when i enter an stf with a tactical captain flying a cruiser as if it was an escort with rainbows tickling borg's shields. Or charging into rooms filled with borg like the red shirts they truly are, spamming help!

Cloak, yeah i have to admit, guilty pleasure... stalking my unknowing prey in Ker'ret waiting to strike when they least expect is.. >:D

To name a few reasons I like the KDF.

My reason for playing the KDF, leaving alone the one and only BoP, is that this Faction actually feels like Star Trek.

I play both sides, but in the last time, logging on my Fed charakter has become more a burden (zen) then fun. Its all so rainbowy there, the costumes, the ships simply everything. The armor and uniforms could be worn by Power Rangers!

The only thing that connects this faction to Star Trek are the missions.

The best examle are missions where you have to scan 5 clouds in a system....and thats it, done.... oO

...in Star Trek such missions often served as a prelude and THEN the story kicked in, not here.

As a klingon you go out there and kick TRIBBLE, take prisoners, surprise enemy shipyards and on occasion, don`t safe the hostages^^

There may be less missions but it feels like more freedom :D

Top Five Reasons Why I Love The KDF

    1. Orion chicks in bikinis. Which morale officer would you choose? This, or this? ;)

    2. Attitude. All the species in the KDF are bad (70's bad, not sour milk bad). They're like a giant interstellar biker gang - and they know it. Give them a hard time and they'll be happy to personally demonstrate how a d'k tahg or disruptor works. :)

    3. Freedom. Kinda related to #2. In the KDF the "tough choices" really aren't so tough. Someone dragging everyone else down with their incompetence? Execute them! Some peaceful alien ship have a warp coil you need to finish your mission to save the Homeworld? You take it! There's no hand-wringing or metrosexual mental dialog - you do what you need to do to complete the mission.

    4. Practical. KDF gear and ships are mostly built for function, not form, and they're built to last. If a Klingon wants to pretty up his ship he'll decorate it with the entrails of his fallen enemies. Otherwise, if it works that's all the KDF needs. Why fix something that isn't broken? I mean, Klingons carry knives! Those things are really useful. Starfleet? No knives. They have red shirts, though. The KDF doesn't have redshirts. We have 'Execute for Incompetence'.

    5. More believable. The KDF isn't a pie-in-the-sky pipe dream of the future. It's more realistic (comparatively speaking). They have pollution, war, crime, brutal politics, assassinations and social classes - just like the real world. The KDF isn't perfect, but it's not trying to pass itself off as perfect, either. Klingons hold honor in high esteem but most Klingons never live up to those ideals. They're fallible. It's as "real" as Trek gets for me.

Bird of Preys (fun as hell)
Pretty much all KDF ships (Except that Peanut Orion Marauder FDC) look awesome
Have Cruisers that can TURN :P
    Cloak
I like the Red UI (Call me weird if you want :o)
    Less boring missions
All ships (except Orion and Gorn ships) can equip cannons
    Orion Women in Bikini :P

    1. Internet space ships. Klingon ships are made for war, not diplomacy. My Klingon in his Tor'kaht means buiseness, a Fed tac captain in a stupid cruiser means failed optional.

    2. Klingon culture. Rivalling houses, the lore singers and so on. Unfortunately, there are way too few storyline missions introducing the minor races. Player made contend made partially up for it.

    3. Mature players. As a noob you have to start as Fed. That shows. ESD and DS9 local chats are unbearable. Player quality in Klingon group content is just way better.

    4. As long as I can remember, I always played Klingons in star trek games.

    5. Say'moHchu' may' 'Iw.

    4. Klingons innately operate better in teams together.

I don't think that, on average, even the Federation episodes are "Star Trek" at all. The Federation depicted in STO conducts itself completely unalike any of its past TV/Movie adaptations. This is a Federation that the Prime Directive does not exist, and seeks to provoke wars with groups that have not declared war on them. Romulan missions, anyone? Constant, repeated interference with Romulan internal disputes? Raid on Romulan medical facility? This, while they are engaged in a deadly war with the Klingon Empire as well as the Borg? And they want to TRIBBLE off more people?

If you want a feel of playing as a Starfleet officer serving the UFP, STO isn't it. They may have the shps. They may have the uniforms. But their campaigns, storyline, and theme are completely unalike the Federation of the TV shows and movies.

This is not the Federation that Kirk, Janeway, Picard, and Sisko served. And the reason that some say to justify STO Federation storyline with, "But the Federation is at war!" doesn't hold water. The Federation has been in terrible wars before, and most frequently with the Klingons. Yet the UFP has never strayed from the ideals that made the UFP what it was, even in the dark times of the Dominion War.

At least the Klingon Empire's storylines are closer to what the Klingons have been traditionally about: War, House rivalry. Cryptic could do more, but the Klingons act like how they should be.

    1. KDF captains do not spam zone chat with tasteless nonsense

    2. KDF captains will support your war efforts regardless of race, ship type, religion, phase of the moon, or scenario

    3. Martok is cute

    4. KDF captains are allowed to conduct illegal raids on illegal Federation colonies which makes everything legal magically :D

    5. Moar contraband!

    6. Gowron, the ex-Chancellor himself offers to teach Klingon culture to everyone! What humility!

    7. 2309 vintage bloodwine is the best in the Galaxy

    8. In PUG Elite Ground STFs my Klingon schoolgirls, housewives and secretaries routinely do ten times better with standard rare gear than stupid MACO suited power rangers who act like honorless petaQ and do zero DPS to the enemy... for they act like cowards and do nothing but snipe from maximum range like typical spineless Feds.

even wile insane Kor went out like a Boss taking on an entire Jem'hard fleet with one under powered Bird of Pray in "Blood Oath" to give Martok and his fleet time to escape

but manly just the back story and history i find way more interesting then the federation side i wish they would get more content to develop it more

Being able to amass contraband so that the hapless Fed toons can have their toys... They can have their toys, but we do not need such frivolous ships in our midst... Nope, my Qin Raptor, even in its "beamscort" config can run circles around the best that Starfleet can throw at me. And, on a personal note, my bridge crew is all Orion women... great morale boost for my crew >:)

So if you're in a Fed ship flying about and you spot the IKS Vi'ejo Ve'yaco flying about, be assured that its crew is truly living life and isn't concerned about petty trivialities. All K'Mtar wants is some contraband... and glorious battle :)

    Four reasons here:

1: Klingons are awesome, but then you already knew that. :P

    2: The Vo'Quv is awesome.

3: Despite having so few science vessels, the KDF has what I consider the best in the game: The Varanus.

4: No ship does it better than a Bird-of-Prey. I have a Defiant on all of my Fed toons because it's as close as they can get to owning a BoP. Still need to get the Ning-Tao... .

    3. I can equip Dual Cannons on cruisers that can actually TURN.

    4. A much better community that doesn't use senseless Tribble or Gorn Jokes. We BBQ the tribbles and the Gorns are awesome!

    5. A much more realistic society in which nobody is perfect or is trying to be perfect.

    6. Executing any incompetant officers.
