Getting the most from Aegis?

Yeah, a little while back I decided o buy the Aegis set from the exchange, the deflector costing me a F**in 6 mil, and I tried using all 3 and I gotta say, I'm not impressed with the adaptive shielding, I'm a Tac Captain and I use the Aegis on My Dreadnought, I found that 2 part Aegis, 2 part Borg is more effictive, but it seems like a loss for buying all 3, is there anyway I can get more from the adaptive shielding?

For one, the Dreadnought (and Aegis) are more suited to Engineers or Science officers because they have more protection abilities. For two, the Aegis is not a very good match for the Dreadnought. The true power of the Aegis lies with it's Distortion Field that increases your evade capabilities. However, as the Dreadnought is better suited to moving slowly or "Park and Pwnd" tactics this negates the distortion field as it only works when you are moving. At least that's what I feel, there could be others who know more.

That being said the "Elusive" trait, when combined with the Aegis will result in many, many shots fired at you missing.

Though, if you're running a beam boat build on your Dread, then lots of armour consoles will help. Reactive shielding is not a replacement for armour, rather it augments it very well.

Monotanium+ Neutronium+ shield repair consoles+ Aegis is a very effective combo that will render you almost immune to torpedoes, and give you moderate protection vs. energy weapons. Very useful for PvE, not so much for PvP.

It is however good to see another Dreadnought aficionado. ;)

I just rolled a new 'toon with "Elusive'.

Wow - in Elite STFs with Aegis, there are A LOT of misses. Add AP:O or Evasive Manuvers, it's awesome.

Aegis is no slouch...there is a pace for it in proper builds.

I've flown all crusiers since I started, though I have a few escorts, a Tuffli, and a science vessel or two I am mainly a tac crusier guy, while full Aegis doesnt work well for Tac or the Dreadnought, 2 part Aegis and 2 part borg works pretty well. also, is they're a way to retrain my traits?

Not at the moment sadly. :( It's been one of the most requested items for a very long time (Along with a re-species token, which also has yet to be added).

You could always join us in pestering Cryptic for them! The more the merrier! :D

Just done the same thing myself - this combo on an escort or raider is fantastic.
