Cloaking suggestion

I am opening Pandora's box, I know... I think it is too easy to defeat the the cloak in STO. In the movies, and TV series, it was always a very difficult and sketchy task to track the cloaked ships. I like that the plasma discharge de-cloaks ships that is true to ST canon. I think the super special items like the Jem Hadar antiproton sweep should be as they are. But all of the other abilities to detect / disable cloak are way to easy. The Klingon ship has NO shields while cloaked, so there should be a stiffer chance setting for detecting the cloak other than with the plasma and the highly specialised consoles, like the emission torpedo and the Jem Hadar antiproton sweep. Perhaps a 0-35% success rate would be appropriate with the higher rate awarded to high science and stealth detect values.

I think tractor beams fired after a ship already has started to cloak should have a chance of missing.

And the BOP Retrofit shouldn't decloak when firing torpedoes. It's really not that hard to take down it's cloak. Players have a handful of abilities to do that.

I'm probably biased, with me being a BoP enthusiast, but I agree. I've got points into stealth, but I'm still likely to be detected by anyone with cloak penetration skills (usually anyone in a sci ship). I've seen sci ships see through my cloak seemingly without doing anything, simply because their 'perception' is high (due to high aux settings?). I personally don't know what to do, other than carry a stealth module in one of my sci slots. . .which means giving up one of my field generators, or putting the assimilated console into an eng slot, thereby reducing my options there. Quite simply, I don't have room for a stealth module :P

So yeah, make it tougher to see through cloaks, at least the battlecloaks. The cloak is what keeps the BoPs alive in PvP half the time, due to the overall weakness of the class in every other respect.

EDIT: Oh, and tell any Feddies whining about the 'OP' battlecloak to bugger off :P

It's still far too easy to bust the cloak bubble but running Aux while cloaked attenuates that to a small degree. You just have to remember to swap back to Weapons power shortly before weapons range and decloaking as not to waste your Alpha. But I agree. The ability to bust the bubble far too easily, pets that track you while cloaked, the whole pinning of targets if they ever fixed that, and Boffs chat-decloaking you... Cryptic will never get it working anywhere near canon. But canon is something Cryptic has never been concerned about.

    All cloaks should be canon.

I'd just be happy if talking didn't break it.
Cloaking generators break down at first sign of language.

They don't need more ways to decloak us they already have about 20 different ways they can do it and if they really really want to all they gotta do is spend a few dollars buy the console fire their torp and decloak us.

The bias is quite clear between the factions although they will never admit it... So basically feds cried about the teleport, they cried about the snare, and the systems design dev or dev's said my fellow federation buddies never fear we will put in counters for you! Lets say RSP and Polarize Hull!

Does they give a counter to the ioninzed fed c-store console find cloaked ship function? Why would they put in a counter for those who spend the most as a majority? FED money is more important than KDF money thats why LOL.

Nope... So there you have it... but they will never make it hard for them to decloak us if they really want to bad enough.

Clearly cloaks should hold UNTIL you fire
and not drop for sensor scans , pop ups , messages , ensign kim breaking wind etc

I never really use the cloak this game just like another game I play. There aren't many chances you get to use the cloak.

I once did a 1v1 against my friend who is a science officer running a science ship. I am a tactical officer running the tactical escort retrofit, so I get to cloak. I waited until their sensor scan wore off and came in for the alpha strike. And she detected me from over 1 km away  which doesn't make any sense.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

Your friend was running high Aux power as a science ship, most likely. This means his ability to spot you is better unless you have your Aux high while in cloak as well.

As if we didn't have enough trouble running at full impulse to keep up with enemy ships and then slowing down to try alpha-striking while our power levels go up again. Now we've gotta run at high aux just to ensure our cloak works the way it's supposed to? Effing ridiculous.

Especially considering in cannon the cloaking system worked by being projected through the shield arrays not some other device.
