The original complaint isn't about zen prices... It's that he's not getting as much dilithium as he wants, and he's complaining because he's paying for the game rather than PLAYING the game.
Zen prices are fixed. You get the same ships, uniforms, features, bonuses, from the store. Nothing about the exchange will change that fact.
He's got no footing at all for his argument, because his argument is solely a complaint that he's not getting enough DILITHIUM, not that zen is losing value. It's still plenty valuable. Hell if you go by keys on the exchange, since S6 they've DOUBLED in price yet still cost the same Z-points to purchase. You could say z-points are worth more than they've ever been. Used to be 750K per key on exchange, now you're running 1.5 Mil and higher on average.
He's just a sourpuss complaining that he can't buy his starbase into completion.
you guys got it all wrong, the price of zen is not changing, its still 1 per 1$
its the price of dilithium that is going up.. right now as it is, being needed in huge quantities for starbase projects and capped to 8k per day, it wont be long before nobody has any to sell.
this will make dilithium worth way more then a few zen.. current min is 25, it will probably hit it..
they need to remove that cap, let the dilithium flow, and the market will go back up.
If Dill for Zen hits the minimum of 25 I'm cashing in like a SOB and buying myself a couple ships!
Pretty much. I've got a shopping list that I can already fill out (though I'm gonna wait to get the maximum possible for my money, just on principle), but I've already got enough leftover for 2 extra ships and not even sure whats left that I want. How awesome a problem is that?
Ok. If that's the way you feel, then do or don't do what ever you feel is right.
Those of you who are sinking tons or real world currency into this game so that someday dilithium can be worth more than real money, and so you can have the small glory of bragging to others are.
I doubt anyone is speculating on the Zen market, figuring that some day they'll be able to cash in their Zen for Cash...
I also doubt that many are spending real money to upgrade their SB solely for the sake of bragging rights. Although if they are, it's their money and doing so is no more foolish then spending money many other things people do for the sake of prestige.[/QUOTE]
First point I think people are spending real world money on their base so they can go around bragging. Oh my base is at level 3. My first thought is "WHO FREAKIN CARES!". Second I didn't mean people are actually speculating, but that is the way it's going. What I'm saying is I will not participate in this mad dash to the bottom just because some fool needs instant gratification and will be the cheapest. That mentality could in fact lead to a dilithium price that is greater than the price of zen barring a zen store sale.
I also understand the OP point of view. I find it obscene that these bases are such massive resource sinks. I don't mind time gating it so that it takes real effort and time, but the way it works, the people who actually pay for this game via subscriptions get screwed again. I will likely cancel my subscription as well as there are little benefits and if all I want is dilithium I can get more than 3x as much for the same price if i simply buy zen outright.

Of course the instant gratification crowd is racing, and of course they're sinking tons of real world money into it. Nobody's denying that. And yes, that's driving the worth of dilithium upwards, nobody's denying that either.
Though ... it's not really bad yet. Dil to Zen is around the 180 mark at the moment, that's equivalen to to 225 Dil to C-Points, so it's not even a historical low point. Even 160 would still be pretty cheap, that'd be 0.50$ for a daily dose of 8k dil - and most people need at least an hour to farm that up. Hiring people to do your daily farming for 50 cent per hour? C'mon, that'd even be below minimum wage for most 3rd world countries.
And as far as subscription goes: Starbases have changed nothing, I repeat: NOTHING, about the value of your subsciption. Of the 15$ you pay, you get 5$ in Zen, and the other 10$ pay towards your veteran rewards. Is that worth it? That probably depends on how many characters you have, and how often you use the respec tokens, but at least half of it is giving you value in form of outfits, pets and ships, even if you only have a single character you play.
Again: Starbases have changed noting about that.
If you don't see value in the veteran rewards, then go and unsub. If you want Zen, then buy Zen. If you don't want either, then stop paying, you can still play. Just make an informed decision.
This whole topic reeks of entitlement. OP thinks that since he's a "paying customer", he should get everything served on a silver platter. And everyone else should pay the bill. Just hilarious.
I'll have to admit though that I actually like the current state of things. Instead of having to pay to play, I got about 3k Zen last months for playing. 'Probably will be around 4k next month. And all because of the instant-gratification crowd, 'has to be the first time ever that I actually like having them around.
