Afraid the 1 Module discount is for Tier 5 ships. (Galaxy Refit, Intrepid Refit, Defiant Refit, MVAM, Armitage, and likely the Regent as well).

I still think that we should get a discout of
    1 - tier 2,3
    2 - tier 4
modules for bought refits of lower tier ships with fleet versions.

It's the logical thing to do, but so far most starbase changes contradict logic so not really surprised this is implemented that way. On the plus side for the people that have more energy credits 4 modules = 20M EC so no big deal.

isnt the defiant retrofit a tier 5 ship? because the defiant retrofit fleet version still asks me for 4 modules instead of one.
    What ? Calaway.

Yep - discount, sadly, only applies to Fleet ships that have a tier 5 C-store equivalent.

Still stinks though - I'll be purchasing the T5 Rhode Island when the time comes, though I wish they'd at least acknowledged lower-tier c-store ship purchases and perhaps offer at least a one-module discount, so that you only pay three modules for the T5 Nova/Rhode Island.

Yea I'm waitin for that puppy too. Real sci ship with lt. cmdr tac slot.. 'bout time XD.

And before somebody mentions it I don't count the Weaver.. it's turn rate is just a little too low for a good sci ship.. I can't get it to work NEARLY as well as the Intrepid Retro or the fleet Horizon which I _LOVE_

was it the sau paulo you bought, or the actual tac escort retrofit? sau paulo doesnt count towards the discount, where as the tac retrofit (if bought in c-sotre) does.

I have both the Sau Paulo and the Defiant Retrofit which I earned through the VA token when I got max level well before F2P went live and for me to purchase the Fleet version of the Defiant it also asks me for 4 fleet modules even though they offer it in the Zen Store and it says "Available" for me cause I have earned it.

I'm not 100% sure if this is a bug or Cryptics way of TRIBBLE over players who earned their ships with the VA token by making them shell out more for the fleet modules wither it be via credits or Zen points. I'm certainly not happy about it and I can't imagine others are either.

What possible incentive do they have to discount it when you're willing to buy it at full price?

Ok, so the way it is at the moment is that if you buy a 2500 Zen ship they discount the upgrade by 1500 Zen

So for each Zen spent you get 0.6 Zen towards a discount.
Why not simply scale it the same for the lower levels

OP says they spent 750 Zen so that 450 Zen worth of discount.
Round up to 500, and drop the requirement to 3 Fleet Modules.

    Simple . . . .

When the C-store Ship + discounted price > Ship at full price.
For example I don't have ship X, but I'm willing to get T5 ship X.
However I'll buy this ship only once on 1 char ever cuz it costs so much to get it.
On the other hand I have no need for the lower version of the ship whatsoever, so normally I wouldn't buy it.

But if I would get the discount I may consider buying the ship so that I would get the console
and I may also consider getting the T5 ship on 1 more char.

Therefore instead of milking me 4 Modules, They would get out of me 3 moduels and a ship and maybe 3 more modules.

Discounts are never a bad thing if they act as an incentive for the consumer to buy more, therefore yield more money.

This is probably just something that has been missed by the Devs. Submit a ticket and hope.
No, it isn't. You have to BUY the retrofit version from C-Store to be eligible for discount. If you got a ship with a token, you don't get a discount.

    Source for this information?
He is correct. The free version purchased with a VA token does not qualify. You must have spent money on the C-Store Ship get a the discount on the Fleet version. It was listed in the blog:

"Fleet ships typically cost 4 Fleet Ship Modules. However, if you already own the Tier 5 C-Store Version of a Fleet Ship, you will get a 75% Fleet Ship Module discount to purchase the Fleet version."
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

OK but where is the explicit source for this, is it in a DEV note somewhere? It seems mightily mean.
As I listed, it's in the Fleet Ship blog: http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=621601

And it's not really "mean." The idea here is that if you've spent money on the ship you get a discount so you can spend less on the Fleet version. If you haven't spent any money you don't get the discount. Using a Token doesn't qualify as spending money - as you didn't spend any money. :)

As for not spending any money to get a 600 day token, hmm, wonder how you arrived at that idea? You must have a LTM or been subbing for a long time, that sounds like quite a lot of cash to me.

I realise it means you didn't stump up for a ship from the C Store but that seems needlessly pedantic and in my opinion a little too mean of Cryptic.
Several thousand people did spend money to earn their 600 Day Vet Reward, and then spent more money to also buy the C-Store versions of the Defiant, Intrepid, and Galaxy. :)

Well... I'm not arguing Cryptic's rationale, which is a discount for C-Store users.

But I will add to your argument: nobody gets 600 days without spending AT LEAST $250, barring lifetime sales.
