But seriously, there is a big long thread in the PVP forums where the consensus seems to be that the counter is another bug ship. Ideally, in PVP you want enough balance so that each class is balanced against the other two. STO never really had this, and then on top of it you put an OP ship that favors tacs. The whole thing strikes me as rather short sighted. The easiest cure for lack of content -- a running theme in STO -- is PVP. Seriously, COD has like 12 maps and you don't see the "no content" complaint. But if STO wants to ever get serious about PVP they need to do some rudimentary balancing of ship types.
And OF COURSE they were able to kill them later in the series - the Federation had to win after all.
(if you watch the first encounter with the borg - the Enterprise D was able to mess em up BAD with one salvo - never again after that - ship power always shifts wildly to make their current enemies more or less threatening)
It's not a question of "can it be killed." It's a question of balance. Ideally, a skilled pilot should be able to make equal use of the other similarly-tiered escorts. It shouldn't be a system of "fly a bug if you can afford it, otherwise pick something else."

Oh. In that case I apologize. If mexxxme can do it with his 7 characters then balance issue solved. PVP is perfect. Just ignore the stats that give an escort cruiser shields and BOP turn rate.

Well, this is true to a certain extent. There are a number of things you could try to do in order to soften up a Jem'hadar attack ship, but the options won't always be available. One thing I often see is power siphons and the like. . .they make the bug a little more vulnerable. However, regular siphons all by themselves might not do the trick (and most escorts and BoPs don't really carry those, since we've got limited enough sci and eng slots as it is), which means you've either gotta have a carrier helping you out, someone with an Aceton Assimilator, or some other heavy-duty drain ability.
Basically, the assumption that the Jem'hadar can be destroyed 'if you know what you're doing' is accurate, but doesn't cover usual circumstances. It generally means you have to use pay-to-win consoles from c-store ships to kill it, because most of the regular skills and abilities can be weathered by a competent Jem'hadar pilot who knows how to tank in an overpowered escort. I've seen situations in Ker'rat where a bug escort can fend off 3-4 opponents. . .opponents who know what they're doing, by the way. Usually takes a combination of warp plasma, some power draining, and maybe attack pattern beta or delta. Meaning, it takes an entire effing team to take down something that's supposed to be an escort.
Based on just the title, the whole thing could be dismissed as yet another "bash Cryptic" thread. Based on the OP alone, a Dev might infer that you weren't pleased with the Jem'Hadar ship for some reason.
How does that provide better feedback than the PvP thread discussing it in detail?
I suspect this thread should just be merged into an existing one that already talks about the issue.

Know how strong or weak the Enterprise was in each TV series? As strong or as weak as the writers needed it to be for the plot of that weeks episode.
How I sort of view how things would happen weekly during production:
Writer: "So I want to write an episode where the Defiant fights another Fed ship"
Producer: "Great, we have this old Excelsior model sitting around, use that."
Writer: "But its an 80 year old ship and huge compared to the Defiant..."
Producer: "So? Call the Excelsior something else, say its been updated. Have the bad Captain mention some new armor someone tacked onto the Defiant. Use you imagination, you're a writer! We aren't paying for a new expensive ship model!"

LOL... Really? FBP scares you? I think you must be doing something a bit wrong... FBP has never been more than a vague annoyance to me. Tactical Team alone solves FBP damage without any heals.
The fact is that the Bug is indeed very very powerful. It has an insane turn rate combined with far far too much tanking ability for a ship its size. It is blatantly over powered for its class and compared to its counterparts in the show.
Now does that mean it cannot be killed? Of course not. Everything CAN be killed. What it means is that if you set one up properly it can take on 90% of other ships and at the very least fight to a stalemate if not win every time which is ridiculous. I mean I am even willing to say that the Odyssey may be falling into the same category considering what I have been able to do with it but at least THAT cannot use Cannons and even at its best turn rate it is still a bit slow. (Though if you ever see a Command Odyssey with an Engineer Captain prepare to never blow it up if they are competent lol... Be grateful that it will deal you next to no damage in that setup.)
The Bug simply does everything too well when it should be, as suggested, little better than an oversized fighter craft. I mean the most deadly thing the bug did in the show was SUICIDE RAM opponents. If that is your big claim to fame then you do not really seem to be that impressive to me.
None of those other threads identified the source of the problem. It's pretty obvious that Cryptic gets most of its ship ideas from the first few season of DS9. Why is the Galaxy a dog? Because the Odyssey was a dog in DS9. Which two retro ships have been buffed to awesomeness? The Excelsior and K'Tinga, which both performed well in DS9. The K'Tinga was featured in just about every shot of the KDF fleet, and the USS Lakota fought the Defiant to a near draw. Defiant and Negh'var, both awesome ships, both DS9. Now someone obviously slipped them a copy of First Contact recently because they came out with awesome versions of the Sovereign and Akira.
I'm just saying that all our problems would be solved with movie night at Cryptic. They could finish DS9 and some of the other series and correct all the balance problems.

Annoying? You mean awesome. The tears of all those "leet" players when their 400 million bug ship with another 400 million in Mk XII very rare everything gets popped by a suicide-ganking B'Rel will be epic.
No, I'm simply trying to use a little humor to make my point rather that the MMO forum standard of screaming nerd rage with multiple threats of a ragequit. After all, this is just a silly game I use to amuse myself in my spare time.
