So a lot of people who play KDF can't help but be annoyed at the somewhat terrible UI we have to put up with. The red on red on red tends to hurt the eyes after a while.
So seems to me that we could really use a new UI.
I'm thinking a grey/brown base with red/orange highlights would work quite well while avoiding the eyesore factor of the current UI.
Q: (framesplicerx) When will we get UI COLOR customization so I can finally play KDF with my IRL friends? They find the intense red UI extremely tough to view.
Dstahl: The UI team is looking at the HUD UI now to review and implement a better way to customize the UI. This may include color templates as well as an easier way to reposition trays and UI elements than the current system. There is no release date for this yet, but they are actively discussing upcoming changes such as this.
I actually have no issue with the KDF UI and I like it better that the Fed side, if they do get better UI added to the game I may play Fed more often than I do but for now, KDF for me.:)
I won't deny that some don't like the KDF's UI, on account that it hurts the eyes after awhile.
However, my vote on this is no. Because I just plain PREFER the red UI over the Fed's, and enjoy it much more That is how I feel
Personally I'd like to just give every faction to adjust their UI colors. Weather they want the KDF Red as a Fed, Fed Blue as a KDF, RSE Green (Assuming) as a KDF, or a pink rainbows. but that's me.
I find the fed side pastel blues are just as annoying.
Red/Orange would not make the KDF any better.
I would rather see them give us the option of adjusting the UI's individually with the traditional colors of the factions.
KDF= green patina, blacks, reds, whites, charcoal greys, etc..

I'm not saying it should be all red. What I mean it shouldn't be blue or green as some suggested. Yellow, orange and red are from the same - don't know how to call it... range? They are fine.

I don't know what it would be called either since English is not my native language.
My guess is since red is a prime colour that orange could be called "derived" from red and yellow but it's one of those gaps in my active vocabulary that doesn't hurt 99.9% of the time.:)
While I'm was reading your post a thought hit me:
Technically a green, blue and yellow interface would work too.
If only for a 22nd century themed Klingon interface:
I say "technically" since it's of course actually obsolete by the 25th century.
But my guess is since it would only be the ingame interface and some people actually liked certain aspects of the show it might work.
If the last Ask Cryptic actually has things come to fruition then we will see options to customize the UI, the trouble is it isn't specially a STO issue, but one to do with the game engine itself and require that team to address it.
It's likely to happen just based on Neverwinter, it needs to get at least 80% or more in reviews to have the best chance of thriving imho.

I was super happy when I read that in the Ask Cryptic, that last one was really encouraging.
Cloaking generators break down at first sign of language.

Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.

You mean something more like this:

?
Klingon Academy
But it has never been all red like in STO.
In fact while red was prominent there was always a whole lot orange and yellow to be found.

Yes, but with a slight muting of the yellows so the color does not bleed as much for us that have poorer vidcards.
R.I.P
Yeah, more orange instead of yellow and the contrast would be less harsh too.
(Or a pig)
Sorry if my English is bad.
