Engy layout won't be any different than a tac layout IMO. You can perhaps run a little more offensive sci skills and rely on your engy skills to make up the healing gap, but in matches against really good scort pilots you will need those heals to win through attrition sense they will kill you with burst sooner than you with dps.

When running non-tac escort, I like to put extra emphasis on boff-attack-patterns. Makes me feel less naked, If I have a good APO3/APB2-3 to back up my attack.

tacs are unbelievably tough in this ship.

you need not focus on defense.

hell, i'd even go without an rsp or sci heals and run 2 DEM1's or something. or fly it like a cruising beam boat and run extends.

either way, you will never do enough spike damage to kill someone by yourself between your targets tac teams. it just wont happen outside of a amazingly lucky string of phaser procs or something.

    so yeah.

basically what everyone else has said.

try kitting it out for energy drains - 2 part omega for tetryon glider with polaron or tetryon cannons will help, but it will come down to winning by attrition or being able to draw enough fire so your team mates can clean up :)

Get TT-doffs/beam-doffs/technicians with aux2bat or one universal boff as tactical so you can run 2 beam overloads in your ship. Make use of nadeon inversion, eps power transfer and batteries to get the most out of 2 beam overloads fired in rapid succession.

Note: if you have 2 beam overloads of different rank loaded, the lower ranked will fire first regardless of their uptime iirc (bo1 first, bo3 then for example).

aha! here too! I was already annyoed that Dispersal Patterns choose the lower rank... and now I hear BO does this too!

    This is wrong!

I cannot agree more with horizon.

Personally I dont see any usefulness in a Engi + Jemmy combination other than to save your own butt and do jack damage compared to a tac.

Actually Engi's in an Escort get even more useless unless they resort back to a beam build, EPS and Nadion are much and much more effective and useful with a full beam build. But then you really ask yourself why you fly an escort with beams....
