Hey guys have the atroc for my Sci/Eng but was wondering if there was any decent tactical builds out there, at the moment using the Armitage any input suggestions or if its even worth looking at for my Tac VA woudl be appreciated.
Try the search function. It's possible it works, it'd been done, now find it.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001. If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why. When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.
Relistically? There is no Tactical build for the Atrox. It has low damage weapons, and just the lieutenant Tac slot. It CAN deal damage (And quite a lot of it), but only through it's fighters, which means all of your special skills? Uselsss, cause it doesn't work on pets. Your better off in your Armitage, or better yet, a Fleet armitage, whenever your fleet gets there...

If I can make a KDF carrier out DPS most of the team, there definitely is a way to do it with the Atrox. However, it really depends on what you plan to do with it. PVP or PVE.
For PVE check out a torpedo boat design. 3x Q-torps up front and 3x Projectile Doffs means a Q-torp firing every 1.5 ish seconds, which is havok for any structure or unshielded cube in an STF.
Your fighters become the icing on the top, not the whole show.
Um right DK thanks for the help and sarcasm......
Sweetie, that wasn't sarcasm. That was criticism on your lack of even attempting to help yourself, I put as much effort into helping you as you did into helping yourself.
Try a build or two in STO, try a search, say you came up with nothing and try an approach. All this does is cost you a few minutes.
People are usually more willing to help somebody who has made an attempt than somebody who has done nothing.

Decent build : none.
Poor build : whatever you want.
Just don't take that do any stf, the Atrox is a science ship and there is a reason for this.
I take a pure science ship to STFs all the time. There is no reason to say don't bring one.
If I had to suggest trying something... I'd say load it up on projectile Doffs (3 purples/blues), load 3 quantum or photon torpedos on the front and go for the structure busting approach. Load up your SCI abilities with either shield breaking skills or hold skills to keep probes at bay and you are laughing. Carrier pets become a bonus.
Seriously if you want to consider such a build, check out Cygone's Intrepid build. It could be adapted for use on a carrier, however you may have to work a little more to get those forward weapons/skills on target.

Sorry but you have no idea what you're talking about.
Carriers are incredibly strong support/control ships in PvE content - a single well played carrier can completely dominate entire situations on STFs through a combination of pets, heals and control.
And on STFs where enemies barely move at all, you can run DHCs on an Atrox with some effort (3x blue or purple CONN doffs for 20 or 15s evasive maneuvers is also a plus).
At the OP:
While the Atrox is a solid ship, I agree with most of the thread in that a Tac will really find a hard time putting their captain abilities to use on a ship like this.
How can you mount Dual Heavy Cannons on an Atrox? It can't do that
Yes it can. All Carriers can mount DHC's. Atrox, Vo'Quv, Kar'Fi, Recluse.
The Orion Flight Deck Cruisers are not Carriers they are Cruisers with a Hanger bay (and commands) same for the Armitage it's an Escort with a Hanger bay.

The Armitage has commands too.
That said, "[X] with a hangar bay" is just the way I like it. My Delta Flyers or Danubes are like minions that hold the poor victim down while the big guns deliver the killing blow.
I haven't actually tried a big-boy carrier yet, though, and seeing Vo'Quvs and Atroxes in action is quite impressive. Maybe when I scrape together more zen I'll splurge on a Catboat, or maybe buy a Recluse.
shimmerless, I have yet to use a parser, but this is going on the fact that most fleet events tell me I got 1st in damage. I would love to do a run. Just FYI I am in the middle of changing some BO skills so I may not be as effective. ( had way too many heals that I do not use.)
What time zone are you in?
But just to be clear, when I say I can beat just about any, I mean that anyone that knows really how to use an escort and has maxed out their build will do more DPS then me. I just do better than most people who do PUGs.
Kyle
but this is going on the fact that most fleet events tell me I got 1st in damage.
Keep in mind your pets do damage, and it may be they are tagged as being a part of "you".
Most of a Tactical captain's abilities will not benefit your pets (except for Fire on My Mark), which is why most people recommend not using a Tac captain with the Atrox.
But just to be clear, when I say I can beat just about any, I mean that anyone that knows really how to use an escort and has maxed out their build will do more DPS then me.
So when you said "any" you didn't actually mean "any", and instead meant "random, useless PUGs who are terrible at building & flying escorts and most likely terrible at flying anything and may or may not even be capable of pointing their ships in the appropriate direction."
I know and while I didn't state it, I did say it was the same as the Orion FDC which I did say had commands. I was hoping the implication of the commands was there for the Armitage.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001. If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why. When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.
Kyle, I'm in GMT but I'm quite flexible and I usually live by an EST clock to accommodate for all those American guys and girls out there. My handle in game is just @shimmerless.
I don't mean to beat on you at all, half of me was legitimately curious. I think you just have to be a bit careful with your wording since "I can out DPS just about any escort" is quite a different claim to out-DPSing pugscorts.
Ah, I thought you were like ussultimatum. I live in central time. I may get on sometime today so I will shoot you a friend request if you don't mind.
Now on to ussultimatum, just because I don't use a parser does not mean that I am not good. Also, because this is a carrier my pest count to my damage. Plus, tac fleet works on pets, and other ones may work, it has yet to be proven or disproven.
Also, if you feel like reading what I said is that out of most of the escorts that I meet, which are in PUGs, I do better than most.
Anybody else going to ask me questions or can we go back to the topic of Atrox builds? So far I am the only one to give a full build. So insede of making fun of mine how about you post your own or leave.
THIS THREAD IS TO HELP SOMEBODY TO FIND A BUILD. Not for jerks to make fun of them.
Kyle
guys thanks for the input prior to posting the orginal post i had done a lot of searching and poking and prodding, thankfully all the replies have been very usefull in many ways. I think the up shot is ill keep to my Armitage or Defiant retrofit escort for my TAC officer and use my catship on my up and coming SCI officer also got an engineer as well so again more food for thought but thanks one and al much appreciated.:)

Well, I think that's a wise decision and you'll appreciate your choice in retrospect.

Look, this ship is my favorite for Tac. you want PVE right roguetrooperz?
I use dual heavy phaser cannons X 2 in the front, plus a quantum torpedo launcher. In the back is 3 X phaser turret.
for Fighters, 2 prighentire? or extra damage. ( cant get on to check the spelling.)
sci. I have 2 field gens. plus 2 worthless consoles. ( going to get 1 more filed gen. plus the assm. console.)
Eng. is just armor.
Tac. is 1 phaser relay and 1 quantum booster.
3 piece borg plus maco shield.
Anything else you want to know?

I would honestly love to see this in action. Would you like to go for a run? Both of us will keep parsers, of course.

I use either the full Borg MK12 or M.A.C.O. MK12 full ship sets.
For Sci consoles i run Embassy [-THr] [Pla] graviton x2, and [-THr] [Pla] Particle, with the Assimilated Module.
Eng consoles are the Romulan console, the Tachyonic converter (from the Lobi store)
And a Neutronium MK11 Purple.
Tac consoles are both MK11 purple Plasma infusers.
For weapons i am running all romulan rep weapons.
So 4x MK12 romulan beam arrays, 1x Experimental and 1x Hyper-plasma
switching between hangers as needed, usually advanced Danubes, Armored shield repair units, or Elite scorpions.
I am constantly changing BOFFS as for each stf i like a little different things.
this ship is excellent for broadsides and i highly recommend (depending on your skills) keeping power at balanced.
the U.S.S. Impossible Feat may not be perfect, but she does her part.
thats my two cents on my build i hope it helps you with yours!
I am Il Shadow and i approve these Shennanigans!
