Can't Buy Odyssey

Like the title says, I can't buy the Odyssey from the store. It doesn't even appear in the C-$tore but all three types are shown when I browse for a new ship except I can't actually buy them. I was going to try them out and see if it was what I wanted. So is this a bug or intentional?

    There is a special console in the tribble shipyard, called experimental ships or something. There you can requisition oddys.
