Say you changed out a skill, from a ground shield modulator to a grenade, or a space mine to a phaser bank. How to you go about testing its capabilities with your crew? A certain system you go to? Disable all other weapons but the one?
What is your method?
Joined STO 20091001. Started playing STO 20120303. Yup, waited 2.5 years for them to go free-to-play. ; Christian, Borg, Time Lord, ninja! I am that hero!
I generally use the easy fights in Eta Erindani, Sattelite Repair, and the two Distress calls.
If everything seems to be working I try a Normal STF. Certain games had target dummies to test out your builds with, so you could gage how well it worked.
I would love a Simultion mode where you could take on say 3 groups. A Frigate group, a Cruiser and a Battleship.
And a Ground assault mode so you and your BOFFs can try it. No rewards are required since it's a testing mode just add a holodeck to the various starbases (ESD, Dronza, DS9, Fleet, K9, First City, Gondala, etc)
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001. If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why. When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.
Federation: I find a Deep Space Encounter more or less equal to my rank (you can find them in most sectors except Eta Eridani).
Klingon: I take the Defend the Empire: Federation mission and go kill Feds (I prefer Feds because Romulans cheat heheheheh)
Ground based changes... just go explore one of the nebulae until you get a ground combat mission (usually doesn't take long).
*STO*Its mission: To destroy strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations... and then kill them, to boldly annihilate what no one has annihilated before!
Elite Khitomer call probes and spawn a cube, if you can kill the cube and stop the probes before everyone else gets there to help its a solid Excelsior build. If you also reverse tank Dontra it gets a +.
For other ships I dont really know.
My friends test for the Fleet star cruiser was could it tank the gate and the Tac cube on Elite, resounding success to the point of being funny.

edit- normal stf for a major change... elite for a minor change :P
