Plasma Infuser?

I see Plasma Infuser boosts Plasma torpedo DoT damage in addition to plasma energy, is this intentional? A UI mistake? Does it actually affect damage of the plasma fire?

If it does would it be worth swapping out my Anti Proton cannons for plasma with 2x front plasma torpedos with 2 plasma infusers and 1 Ambiplasma consoles?
