Star ship + weapons

Evening all, what do you think is the best start ship in sto,why,and what are the best weapons to have in the game?

I currently have the premethius with phaser weapons

I am currently searching for a table or something that people have put together with enemy resist types if such a thing can be done or does exist i am not sure, however, using these specific weapons against enemies that are weak to them would be the best course of action, as well as a ship that is either maneuverable enough to keep the enemy in its weapon arcs, or resiliant enough to take the punishment.

if your talking about PvP, well from my own personal experiance, and quick looking at things, Anti-Proton seems to be the way to go, since there is very little in the way of resistances for it, and since stacking resistances has diminishing returns again it is a very difficult question to answer.

^^ This is the perfect answer.

You will find a wide range of opinions on what is best. Some will say escort, others will say Cruiser, and so on.

It really all depends on what you want to do in the game... and how you want to play... Example, I find escorts are high dps machines... I point and shoot, thats pretty much it. On my sci toon, I use sci ships, which adds a layer of complexity of watching and healing teammates.

My experience and game playstyle may not match yours, so its a little difficult to point you in any direction.
