I have to say that i like the design, very nicely done. But i will probably stick with the original design anyway, or interchange them a little.

Still waiting on the speccs though! i so hope it has a ltcmd tac and an universal ensign (probably this setup anyway)

Feel free to give feedback yourself here.

beautiful ship design, but I feel like this traditional design is beginning to bore. Now don't get me wrong, it will never fall out of style and I will never get tired of it and lets me honest it will never 100% go away, but all the star fleet ship designs are beginning to blur together for me. I hope that for the next couple Cryptic made ships, the designs are more out there. The Jupiter for example, that ship was something out of a nightmare, but that's kind of why I liked it, it stood out. The Regent is an awesome ship, but next time I wish they'd think a little more outside the box.

Meh, it looks like a re-hash of the Odyssesy just w/o the odd looking neck and the forward swept pylons look silly, at least in my opinion. I won't be buying this from C-store that's for sure. The Sovy was a classic design and they've mucked it up, again in my opinion. There are those who will like it and to each their own. You just think if they were going to put another pay-to-win ship in the game they'd at least make it somewhat attractive and different looking from what has come out already(namely the Oddy) and kept it more in line with the Sovy as they did when they did the Galaxy and Nebula re-hash.

Seems like they keep trying to make ships resembling Archers Enterprise. I can certainly tell where they draw their influences from.

I won't make the final decision on whether to buy it or not until I see some stats, but this is the ship that most of the game has been yelling for, especially since the Excelsior has better firepower (and with the hull buff, now has more armor than it). So I am definitely looking forward to more details on this ship, seeing as how a large percentage of the game has been begging for it for as long as I've been here.

I will certainly get this, if the stats are similar/same as the fleet version they pulled. That boff layout is great for a cruiser in a tact's hands. Plus, you can just use the other skins if you don't like the Regent version.

Actually, about that, a Dev made a thread saying that the extra hull and shields was a bit of a goof-up/bug, which will probably be fixed soon, and the Excelsior will be at it's normal, pre-season 6 levels.

Unless of course, that information I had is out of date now.

That aside, when I first played this game, I liked the Star Cruiser more, but I did like the ole Sovy of course, I even used my RAUH token (when we still got those) to get one.

So, if I feel it's worth getting, I think I will get it. but like others, I gotta see some specs first.

Even if it's a new 'pay to win' ship with a fancy new console/ability, or just a new skin, I think it'll be nice either way.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.

The design is too similar to the Odyssey imo. I think the entire Star Fleet ship design needs an overhaul. The Atrox was a nice change of pace, but now they're back to the same ol' same ol'. So they either need to drastically change Star Fleet ship styles or come out with more non-Star Fleet Federation ships like the Atrox. What about an Andorian ship or one of the hundreds of other Federation species?

Because it wouldn't be as profitable as another fed ship...plain and simple.

I really do hope that this cruiser comes with some bite to it, this game is set in a period of time were we are at war after all, but I think they will most likely stay with a pacifist set up like have a Lt. Com. Science station and a Tactical ensign slot, because nothing screams ?Assault? like a Tactical ensign slot.

Don?t get me wrong The Sovy is a nice looking ship but when I first saw it I was like ?Really? a tactical ensign slot. That?s why they called it an ?Assault Cruiser?, Wow!, that?s one powerful ensign

    They ever not angry? ;)

Seriously though, I think its beautiful, like a halfway point between the Soverign and the Odyssey but without the Ody's excessive bulk. However number wise, unless it has something to really set it apart, I just can't see why you'd pick one up over an existing assault cruiser, or the better hull/shields/boffs/consoles of an Odyssey, or a cheaper/faster Excelsior. I'm quite curious to see how they're going to make this thing stand out.

Well, since it's a refit they're probably going to give it a fancy console of some kind or maybe tweak the boffs. Operating on the assumption that they won't be reissuing a Fleet version of the Assault Cruiser anytime soon, whatever they do will need to stand up to that test.

That said, I'd pick a standard assault cruiser over an Excelsior every time, because I don't like how the Excelsior looks :o

I'll be honest, I was expecting the Sovereign Refit to be basically a tweeked Sovereign with some design changes (like the TOS Consitution to the TMP Consitution Refit), not a new ship altogether.

But I will buy it, only real ship I been waiting for over 2 years now. And not only that, JamJamz actually used parts of my DTNE entry (since she was more Sovereign with TOS feel). So that convinced me to buy her (though be nice if I got it for free, haha).

However, I'll have to wait for better quality pictures show up. I'm not very happy with the look of the Warp Nacelles (they are ugly - no offense). The Dorsal Side of the Secondary Hull, well it's full of holes. The Deflector needs to be larger. And can't tell from those angles, but seems the ship lacks the classic Federation Cruiser ducktail.

So be interesting what new pictures may show.

I very much like the more sleek look of the Regent compared to the original Sovereign, and it seems to convey the general 2409 feel very well.

I've already picked up most of the 2409 ships like the Venture, Sao Paolo, and Thunderchild, so I'll likely get this one too.

Now to just wait for a 2409 refit of the Cheyenne lol. :P

I like the design very much. However I'm not that happy with the BO layout that was on tribble back then. Considering the ship will have 7 turn rate and it's only viable will be beams, I'm not that impressed by Lt.cmd + lt. tactical slots tbh. Would prefer if the lt.tac would an universal station instead the sci one. But oh well.

Yeah, it is another cruiser. I like the way it looks, but where is the love for a science ship. This year we have had four cruisers come ou and an escort and a carrier. Yes the carrier is science based but it does not have the munuvebilty of true science ships. The carrier inhibbit science skills that have 90 degree firing arc. I understand that Cryptic need to make money and cruisers sell. I am not goimg to make a decission on it until I see the ship layout. I do not think that it is going to come with a console, a recent podcast said it could have 180 degree forward and aft firing quantum torps, which could be cool. I have togive credit where it is do, I do like the way it looks.

Even if the new design is not bad, and kind of follows the design line of the current starships...i kind of want a skin pack with this

it is the refit seen at the end of nemesis, it looks nearly the same but there are some distinct differences.

I'm wondering about the release of this ship to be honest.

Will it be the cost of a Z-Store ship and a FSM? Say 3000 points?

Giving you a Regent, a Special Console and the 10 Console slots, 10% Hull and Shield boosts of Fleet ship.

Because I would rather pay extra and get it as a Fleet Equivalent from the get go than buy it and a module.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001.

no, it will be z-store for 2500 with 9 consoles+a special console, and the fleet version will be sepperate (maybe T5 fleet shipyard) with consoles and higher HP

i'm not quite sure if the z-store version will have the same BOFF layout as the fleet version...since the Vor'cha does not.
so maybe we will see regent class in Z-store with BOFF layout of an assault cruiser+the special power of the cosole and a little more HP. and only the fleet version will have the ltcmdr tac as seen on tribble.

but honestly that will be answered soon enough.

Since Cryptic has effectively phased out selling ship skins alone (as evidenced by the Season 6 Fleet Ship migration), the only way they would have to sell a new look would be to sell a new ship, even if it is a "Refit".

If nothing else, since this is effectively the Assault Cruiser Refit ("Retrofit" is for low-tier ships boosted for endgame use), chances are the Fleet version (if it ever comes out) will have the long-lost Imperial-class skin that some folks have been complaining about.

What traditional design? Take a look at those pylons, take a look at every other canon starfleet ship, and then come back and tell me it is traditional...

Edit: not saying I like it, I actually hate it, they should have stayed MORE traditional.

I really, really hope you're wrong about the Lt. Cmdr Tac. That'd be my main reason for picking this thing up, and frankly the main reason I can think of for the ship existing in the first place. Not saying that you ARE wrong, though. Although I realize some people will explode about having a Lt. Cmdr Tac and not Lt. Cmdr Eng, though it's my hope that they may have considered having one of each, plus Cmdr Eng and Lt. Sci or Lt. Uni, or something like that. Pipe dream? Maybe, but here's hoping.

That said I have no illusions about the consoles, and I bet it'll get a HP buff, but not as much of one as the hypothetical resurrected fleet version. But if it doesn't have firepower to make a good tactical cruiser, I'm just going to stick to what I've got for the foreseeable future (the chances of me touching a fleet anything version being slim to nil - and probably not this if it's a character-based unlock either).

And if you read the article you will come across why they did not go with the forward nacelles in the original design:

Then we started doing the top views and Fritz [Zimmerman], who is one of the set designers, came over. He said, 'You know, if you look at it like this, it looks like a big turkey in a pan!' And he was right! We laughed, and when we told Herman he said, 'Oh, my gosh! Get rid of that.'

That's my dream as well, for what it's worth. I'm tired of the best tactical cruiser option being the Excelsior... which is a fine ship, but it's no Sovereign.
