Actually i take this as quite possibly the smartest thing i ever seen a dev say in STO

no offense, 1 v 1 mechanic may very well save pvp, becasue the way it is, is FAIL [TRIBBLE]x3

how many ppl do you see in arena?....not many...as a matter of fact most ppl do not do arena because 5 v 5 and balancing for 5 v 5 is fail....i know about 14 ppl who was very excited when they said 3 v 3...most pvp'ers spend our time in cap and hold and ker'rat, for starters cross healing is buggy and OP and 5 men focusing fire on a single ship is instant death no matter what buffs your running...that equates to boring to most....i like to shoot my gun as oppose to making to the battle just to die 3 seconds in...again i repeat that this system is FAIL...and sticking with it only guarantees pvp fails....the proof is in the pudding, when is the last time you got into a pvp without a que taking at least 45 minutes?

That is because it is FAIL.......i think they should do away with 5 v 5 and make the max space team size 3, add a 1 v 1 que and balance all ships for 1 v 1 combat...i GUARANTEE this will save pvp....there are just too many disgruntled ppl who will not pvp because their ship cannot hold its own 1 v 1

I have played many MMO's and every time they balance it for the QQ'ers the game dies shorlty after, don't believe me...look at STO history....look at any other MMO WOW tried to balance it for the less intelligent and now it is in financial ruin and they can't even BEG the old players to come back, same with RS...as a matter of fact the only mmos who seem to grow are the 1's without feedback forums....lets face it QQ'ers suck, they think they know what balance is, they just end up crying till their fav ship is the only 1 worth flying (escorts)

I am not saying this for any other reason than i love star trek and i want STO to survive forever....as long as they continue trying to balance it for 5 v 5 pvp will die....as long as escorts are the only fun ship to fly, and the only ships that can kill in a timely fashion...STO will fail and IS failing....PvP'ers are dropping like flies and heading for greener grass in non trek games that promise not to appease to qq'er...i wont say any names here because i don't want to drive any more ppl away, and YES the game i have in mind is also a space combat pvp focused game....they play the game and balance it for fun...not 2 hour snorefest if you fly anything other than the "golden child ship"

You build a game pvp to appease only 1 type of player and you will lose all the rest...and maybe you should ask someone how forgiving us MMO'ers are, WOW, can rot in hell and RS couldn't pay me to play it again, they proved they will bend to the whim of the QQ'ers and that is not acceptable.....they will die slow and economically painful deaths

I challenge the STO team to not be the next Dead MMO, balance the game for 1 v 1 and you will save pvp...add some OP powers in for fun..you know, the 1's with long recharge times but guarantee insta kills...(sorta like a bop's cloaked alpha strike that i can now mimic using my defiant, it can kill in literally 2 seconds flat from 100% shields and hull)

im sorry as much as ppl cry about them OP is what makes a game fun, if you want to balance it somehow, put class restriction option on games, like only allow 1 of each either career choice or ship class choice and make the max 3 players

this is my input and i stand by it 100%, i have done lots of research and i personally have played many mmo's...i know what makes them die a bitter death and what makes them thrive....do these things and PvP will be reborn

I see your point, but every time you see a tsi vs pandas for example, the fight goes on forever. Because when a ship is focused, all other 4 will throw heals on it and the resistance and heal buffs become insane, that focused ship won't die easy. And if you take, lets say, a 5 escort team against a 2 sci, 1 cruiser and 2 escorts, the last will definitely win the game, even if at the beginning the 5 team escort will score the first kill. But when the juice is gone from the escort team, they will all die one by one due to the debuffs from the sci, heals from the cruiser (to the team's escorts) and damage from the other 2 escorts.

Kerrat is fun sometimes for this particular reason, you rarely see a premade going there (and when you see it people usually change the instance because that team will make the rules), and the no rules fights are more likely to happen in Kerrat. That is the place (besides pugs) where you go with a 1vs1 build.

    usually 10, myself included... :P

If you're talking queues, I think that with the exception of broken queues times, the wait has never been shorter than it is now. I take this to be a combination of a steady number of players, and a slightly improved queue system.

What I DO see more of these days, is highly unbalanced matches. It's almost always 15-1 or similar score, and the winning team is usually extremely pet-heavy. Danubes or siphons. I have no problem fighting, surviving and killing in an BoP or a cruiser, as long as I'm not permanently held with TB2 from 3 sides...

I'm personally somewhat fine with spam (very annoyed though), as an escort you can run pol hull and 2xomega and as a cruiser you can put in a faw and pol hull. But the issue is that for each, using polarize hull comes at some expense (some cruisers have the advantage of using 1 Ens sci and 1 lt sci, thus you may have pol hull - at no significant loss, tss and he) but some cruisers only have a lt sci, and choosing pol hull to he/tss may cost you dearly. An escort will almost always have to sacrifice a he or tss for a ph. And a sci, even worse. The solution for this I think is just to start paying for the ship that's best, but well, sounds kind of like pay to win, lol.

I agree TT is pretty much mandatory for a cruiser these days. Escorts do so much damage that otherwise your shields are gone and your hull before manual distribution has a chnage to do anything. The game is pretty much escorts online already.

funny I dont see a pandas using tac team on there cruisers, what are you full aux or just no dps?

also the games cruiser online still :)

I tend to find when im pugging 15:7 average, but can be 15:2 (usually I gank the 2) or 15:12 where pugs beat up nova core or sob

Already did this KDF side... Bought a ship that is so big and slow moving that I don't even notice if it stops moving. But it's tough enough to survive a short attack, even without the bonus defence, and hits hard enough to make sure all attacks are short. :) Sadly, it's no fun at all :(

Thank god I was not there, lol. Seriously now, I would change instance in such a case too, it ain't fun to get yourself blown to pieces every 20 secs. Isc is a good fleet, but don't remember seeing them as a hard core premade fleet (meaning they are more free lancers rather than an omogenized team that hits the queues regularly - but well, I'm 99% pugging so I don't know what they organize), such tsi/pandas, even nova. I think they are mostly in Kerrat, and mostly tacs, very good 1-1-ers, can't say too much about them as a team, cross healing, team builds, etc. At least thats my opinion from what I've seen .If you guys want to test-fight eachother, I would suggest to start as a small 2-2, 3-3 groups, I think that would make the game more balanced. What I like about isc is that any time the ballance lies against klinks, they use the kerrat bug and log in as Klings. When klinks are at advantage, they go back as Feds. Nevertheless, they all seem pretty cool people, no bragging, no bs.

Lol, I see you also got the cast iron kdf bathtub... I can rotate my tires faster than doing a 360 with bortasqu. However, I like it. Especially the Bo layout. But it's not as fun as an escort...

I am so upset I missed that. The Ques must have broken after I had logged out.

VoQ players laugh at how slow the Bortie turns. I agree it does have a fun BOff layout.
