Turning off Buff icons on ships

I have been trying to make some cool wallpaper images from STO to put together a theme for my Windows 7 computer.
Printscreen does capture the image nicely and none of the UI elements, however if there is one of those buff icons on the screen (the ones that pop up on your ship and then go away) they are captured too, along with the shield arcs (but I know how to turn those off).
Is there a way to turn them off?
