Hello,

I am downloading as I type...

Can I get an 'original series' type of experience from this game? In regards to space exploration and random events.

Thanks

The closest thing you'll get to TOS is a bridge pack of the Constitution class, a TOS ship you pay extra for, a first movie Connie, and TOS clothing options. Im sure there are some TOS type fleets you could hook up with and role play with. Be sure to play Foundry missions created by players, they are some of the best missions. But since their set assets are limited, you cant really create TOS LOOKING missions.

I'll plug my fleet, I dont run them, but Clan Hunters are very nice and helpful players. They helped me a lot when i joined.

Thanks for the response. I'll definitely take your suggestions.

I do prefer TOS and the first starship model. What I am really looking for in a Star Trek game is the true "exploring strange new worlds, and seeking out new life"...etc...etc. You know the drill. I am not really interested in an arcade style starship battle game. I already have those. Can this online game be something close to what I am looking for?

Well, once you play the official missions, there isnt really exploration per say. All the cluster missions are basically the same type of boring thing. There isnt going out into deep space and finding new areas. The closest you get to that is playing Foundry missions, where they use worlds and species that are new, so really, the Foundry IS exploration in this game. Go look at StarbaseUGC's website, for all Foundry stuff. Sometimes you run into a stinker foundry mission, but many are good now. Just now that any bugs you encounter in Foundry missions are Cryptics fault, NOT the authors, so keep that in mind when you give ratings. The Foundry is still technically in beta, even though its been out over a year now. But Star Trek authors give you the better Exploration feeling than the game does.

As for that TOS you can buy asap, be warned you will level so fast through Lieutenant that you wont be able to use that ship again really, as the enemies will be harder next level and the TOS ship isnt up to par with Tier 2 ships, or especially Tier 3 ships.

dunno if you're still watching this thread, but I'll tell you what I know...

If you're looking more for the space exploration side of Star Trek, you won't find *much* of it here - a great deal of the *initial* content rotates primarily around combat - you'll find some very exotic and pretty looking environments, and make no mistake, the combat is reasonably tactically interesting AND very very pretty, but it's mostly combat...at first

there *is* some nostalgic exploration you can manage - once you make your way into sector space, go visit Vulcan, Risa - star systems with familiar names - there are some surprisingly entertaining moments, and some really well rendered vistas in those areas - not perfect, but star trek enough to make you remember the series

honestly, the closest I think you'll get to the star trek experience are the featured episode chains - some of them are really, really quite star trekky, albeit still suffering from classic MMO structure/mechanics

as far as the wonder of discovery that often accompanies a huge and diverse cosmos - no, I'm afraid that really doesn't exist here - I wish it did too, but I found lots of other elements of Star Trek that keep me visiting occasionally, but there's not a lot of genuine *exploration* to be done
There is no correct resolution; it's a test of character.

Thanks for the insight kermit1013. I'm sure I will enjoy the game none the less. I was hoping for a vast universe of the old Star Trek RPG caliber.

    Dear Community,

I was start made the video as a "let's play", but now i have some problem with this, becouse Youtube asks me if I have a license for making videos of the game.

I don't know if it is allowed to make a video of this game and put them on the Internet.
So I wrote to support about my problem, but I have to wait for their answer 3-4 days and now it's weekend.....
