How to charge up STO with more trekkers.

I got really happy when Dstahl said that STO is the best performing game in the PWEs portfolio. This got me thinking. Beare with me on this one. Like all the other trekkers I know of, we are more or less obsessed with numbers. Sadly Cryptic is not the best co to market numbers. And why would players approach a game that aren't boolstering their numbers. Like WoW, they have always been a little to happy in marketing the number of players. When you as as a player hear how big a game is in turn of players, you feel compelled to try it, right. If the game has that amount of players than surley it must be a good one to play. Marketing numbers can be a good marketing plan if performed right. Now, we all LOVE this game, but sadly, when Cryptic aren't telling anything about player numbers or how the game is actually performing in turns of profit, then new potential players have to turn towards te second best source of info. The forums of STO. Now this is potentually a DISASTER for STO. Like all trekkers, the forum memebers are quick to say what they like, and even faster saying what they do not like. If you as a new potential player take a glimpse on the forums you'll see a tragic amaount of criticsm. While we and Cryptic are use to this, and understand it, imagine how many players are simply scared away when they cannot find numbers or statistics from the makers of the game, and then finds all of the imopsing threads in the forums. In many other games that are being open about these thing, people tend to spend alittle less timein the forums discussing issues like this. I belive that doing some more rumor control and finally letting us know the cold hard numbers, it would go a long way to calming down the forums and could potentually bring players in. Who would't wanna play the best and only ST mmo with hundreds of thousands of others. Please dear Cryptic, give this one some power and think about it for a while. Lova ya!

If they want to put out a lot of the fire in the forums, release the lock box odds. That's a nice one to let us see.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

I too wouldn't mind a little bit of random statistics.
The closest I can get to a number regarding STO, is through Steam's statistics of number of players playing the game. Bear in mind that this number is only relative to the amount of gamers playing STO through Steam. It would be nice if PWE/Cryptic could give us some numbers. Oh. Wait. the only numbers they are fascinated about is monnies getting into their account. -And I don't think that is something they're willing to blare about. :D

Since I don't live in a country that steam is very active in, I would love to hear what numers you where able to find. I think most us are alike in this way, that we live on numbers. I for one are not complaying that they need to sell stuff to make money. But as i said. Letting us know the economics and playerbase would go a long way to ease this particular pressurevalve abit.

I've been playing for a while, and I'm still not used to the venom that people vent on the forums, nor do I understand it.

There are certainly some very good concerns, complaints, and suggestions for the game that end up on the forums, but some folks seem so far past that level on the unhappiness scale with their gripes, that I don't understand why they keep posting and playing.....
Passionate about the game doesn't cover it.

But to your point, It would be interesting to know how many players there are, and how many different characters!

I think items like the good fiction story in the Star Trek Magazine about Captain Data and Captain Shron should pull in some folks-

I think that story, and the detailed history that was up earlier about the road to 2049 should be put back on the website site.

Hopefully a good stand at the Star Trek Convention in Vegas will help attract Trekkers too-

Soooooo true!! This is both a blessing and a curse for cryptic. Not many other playerbases have such strong opinions like trekkers. We are not easy to satisfiy and we speak out fast when we see something that we do not like. This can be good in terms of feedback, but also a bit overwhelming for new players seeking facts and to the devs having to absorb as much of it as possible.

Hope they survive the convention lol :)

They have so many fans angry about the empty promisses and all, or people don't mind the game and pass by or they have to answer to an angry group LOL :)

Poor things. I really feel bad for them, having to coup with a bunch of trekkers.
