The one portion of the game which I really, truly, and passionately hate.

As much as I gripe about the game, its a pretty good game. Close enough to the top of the stack of free to play games that it basically comes down to personal taste.

But the one, singular, unitary part of the game that I truly, passionately, completely, intensely, surely and thoroughly hate is that I have to redo some of the most tedious missions 8-9 times in order to get a full set of ship weapons for my ships. I mean... I want to get the weapons just to try them out, but just... damn. Have to go do a mission 8 times to get a nice set of beams. That is bogosity.

8 or 9 times? If THAT drives you nuts, just wait till you start trying to assemble STF sets. Try 100 piece, minimum, if you want 12s.

LOL, just count yourself lucky that you can get endgame weapons by doing missions. We used to have to explore the B'tran cluster a billion times to equip a ship with MK X or M XI purple weapons.

I guess you've never played other MMO's where you need to organize 10+ people for a raid just to get one item every dozen or so attempts?

So you end up playing the same mission a few hundered times so everyone can get a couple of pieces of equipment.

At least you can complete missions to aquire space sets. You have to do "Second Wave" twice to get two seperate pieces of the JH ground set, and the mission will not complete for single players. You actually have to team to complete it. Been screwed up like this for months.

10? Try 50-75, THOSE were a nightmare to organize and make sure everything went off without a hitch.

Or we had to PVP for the Mk X purple weapons (Antiproton only). There was a time when we traded "Emblems" for green Mk X weapons, and they were the highest you could go if you stuck to casual PVE. Actually you could craft Mk IX blue weapons if you wanted two bonuses, but only Polaron were available.

And don't forget the time when there was no such thing as item sets and you got the best Covariant shield (the Mk X [cap]x3) through PvP grinding. And you stuck with the Mk IV "Efficient" impulse engines because they added +5 power to weapons, shields and aux, and no Mk X engine was worth trading up for.

AND the Mk X purple tactical consoles that sometimes dropped in B'tran gave +30 to weapon damage like the Mk XII Purple ones do now. When one dropped, it was like finding treasure.

...Wow. I think I miss those days. When having all purple gear earned you serious bragging rights.

Lol. Yea, you're right, good ol' times. Now you get squat from pvp. Some dilithium and few ec. They totally destroyed the pvp. But in the sense of fairness, they did improve the pve. Why they need to be mutually exclusive, it beats me.

True but that might scare most of the players, if they knew just how hard it could be compared to other games. ;)
