Maelstrom Skin Not Available for the Patrol (formally fleet) ecsort?

phantomeightphantomeight Member Posts: 567 Bug Hunter
Have any of you out there that fly the patrol escort (formally fleet escort) and have purchased the Maelstrom skin gone to the ship talor lately?

I switched fleets and wanted to get the new emblem and the Maelstrom skin is not a selectable option anymore. I also do not see it in the C-Store anymore? Did they take it away from us so that it is now only for the fleet version now known as the fleet escort?

Checking the recent post on the front page, if you bought the skin before Season 6, you still have the skin.

After season 6 you need to get the fleet ship and you get the skin as a bonus (i think)

(its about mid down the page one of the orange ones) when you get the fleet patrol you get the skin too.

There have been conflicting reports on this, but I think right now it might just be bugged with the transition to S6 in that both should technically be available from the store. So, I guess their intention was for you to be able to buy the costume, but also get it with the fleet version, if that makes any sense. Then again, I could be wrong and they're just trying to TRIBBLE over those of us who bought costumes in the past. :P

No it is no longer available in the C-Store if you bought it before season 6 you still have it if not you have to buy the fleet ship to get it. I just read it in the new Dev Blog.

Huh, so does this mean an off-chance of them actually go back through the ships and adding/fixing costumes? I mean, if I wind up paying $20 for a Nebula that doesn't get a console and slightly better stats, and there are no costumes anymore...what is my money going towards? A "skin" isn't the same as a costume, after all.

They were secretly removed from the store, and can only be accessed if you already purchased them, or if you buy the appropriate fleet ship. Stupid move on Cryptic's part, but eh, what else is new.

Makes you wonder how on earth you get the assault cruiser's extra skin, huh?

OP here.....This what was said in the dev blog, which I just read... funny that it was in there of all days that I take to complain about this....

"You may have noticed that we used to offer some ship class costumes in the C-Store -- we have pulled them from direct purchase in the C-Store and you can now only obtain them by acquiring the appropriate Fleet Ship. If you already purchased one of these ship class costumes, you can still access it. "

One would think that if I could still "access it", that it would still be listed for me in the ship tailor as I bought the ship costume years ago. I hope it's not one of those "You can just never go to the ship tailor again" answers.....

    This is just not right...

And what about the Imperial-class skin? There's no Fleet Assault Cruiser, so where do we go to get that one?

I personally don't have a problem with them taking away the skin from the C-Store. However, I have a huge problem with it not being listed in the ship tailor though I had already purchased it. What If I never wanted to do fleets, but I like to change up the look of my Nacelles or something?

They're holding off on the Fleet Assault Cruiser until the C-Store Assault Cruiser comes out.

The reason being, some people will want to buy the C-Store version to get a discount of 3 Fleet modules on the fleet version.

If they released it NOW, you'd have people spend 4 fleet modules on it and get upset when they have to spend an extra $25 on the C-Store assault cruiser.

By waiting, they're trying to be fair and limit total investment on a Fleet Assault Cruiser to $30.

That makes sense, poaching the existing "upgrade" skins for the Fleet ships also does, but I'll have to check if those pieces are still in the tailor. I got the Tor'Khat ages ago, mostly because I had spare C-points, but also because the Vor'Cha is proportioned wrongly.

I noted this as well having purchased most all of the ship skins when they were offered.

I found recently that when I select a class for which I have a skin, while the design name doesn't show on the left side in the ship customization screen, the options do appear in the drop downs on the right side. :)
