I agree. They're dropping rarer, so they don't feel like they're replacing all the useful loot. The rewards table are all pretty decent; no useless consumable TRIBBLE. They increased the Lobi per box, and the added a couple ships to it with a somewhat reasonable price.
The lockboxes are never going away, so I at least am glad that they're "better" this time around.
One thing that would be nice is to have them listed as uncommon or something because when teamed last night we found to get boxes to roll we had to set need or greed to common which meant every hypo, common weapon, battery etc was also being rolled on making the game extremely annoying.

It's the tradeoff for the rest of us not having to roll on them every 20 seconds anyway. And it's not like you need to split up something that you can get for a mere 200 dilithium anyway.
Take a look at my Foundry missions! Conjoined, Re-emergence, and . . .
I agree. I was indifferent for the most part and very uninterested in the previous renditions, but this one is definitely better. As some have already said, most of the items have SOME use. I am actually wanting to get a fair amount of the Phased Tetryons, just for the kicks.
The Lobi increase is good, though they took out the MACO Boff I would have been working toward... I did get 27 Lobi out of one box though, I think with a mini-Doff pack. Probably rare, but nice.
The biggest thing is the versatility of the boxes contents. There is enough variety and WORTH to the items.
As some else stated, I believe Leviathan, the 'main' prize (Tholian Weaver), is exotic enough to have an interest in, but not FROM Trek per say, like the other ships. Though I had no interest in the other ships, it still was kinda a bummer to have these iconic Alien ships. With the Weaver, it's a little different. I kinda lost my thought line.
Anyway, still progressing in the right direction in terms of Lockboxes.
On a side note, being a Doff fan, I really do like the packs as of late; Gamma and Reinforcement. That was, is a good move, in my mind.
I already mentioned this in this thread, I still liked the Doff pack, but compared to the last lockbox, it's a massive improvement. But Cryptic shouldn't get too comfy with with these, there's still a lot that could be made better.

You're right but since my teams run Need or Greed settings as standard, as do any STF's etc I end up doing then its a bit of an oversight is all I was pointing out.

I think this one has been the best so far. the drop rate is better and the loot is quite good. i even prefer it to the duty officer packs because being a lock box its cheaper and i still get a lot of duty officers but there are a few extra nice things in there as well.
i do miss the holo novels from the ferengi one. one of those added would have really been the icing on the cake.
I do have to say that I loved buying the Mirror Delta flyer mini-pet from the Lobi store - would love it even more to be able to replace my regular delta flyer with it when I fly the tour of the universe events.
It doesn't drop stupid pets and useless consumables anymore, so I'm fine with that. It pays for the game, and hopefully for more factions at some point, which is enough for me.
Yeah the doff drop rate is more than high enough to make them worth it.
That said all these fleet credit boosters aren't so welcome. I understand you need a basic low value item to fill them out with, but at the same time it need to be somthing thats generally useful. I'm sure those in larger fleets benefit greatly from these. But for me in my small fleet i can earn credits far faster than i can spend them. If it had been 50/250 point fleet mark boster, or a dilithium container, or a token to reset your daily dilithium limit i could see the advantage for everyone.
I also agree with somone else, the lobi per box reletive to lobi store costs isn't perfect yet. It's getting there, but there's work to be done still IMHO.
Overall however these feel worth opening. They're not LOTRO lockbox level, but they're not junk eithier.
The chance to win is what bothers me. I'll gladly buy a key or 2 if I could find out the payout percentages of the items contained in these boxes. The ONLY item I'm interested it the point defense console for KDF. I've been salivating for the missile console from the lobi store since the first time I looked at the store inventory but determined that the price of the keys and low lobi drop rates from earlier boxes put the console out of my price range. I'm afraid to even look at the new lobi store inventory as I fear that console is gone
This new dropbox PD console would work nicely, but no way I'm going to open 100 boxes to get it.
There, I said it. I like these Tholian lock boxes. The rewards are cool. They are fun to unlock. I don't feel ripped off.

I hate to say it also but HELL YEH i like them got a sip some lobi some xp and a doff out of 4 boxes money well spent and it was all free ZEN i had earnt from surveys and watching stuff when i had 5 mins so thats even better for me
all round good job keep adding awesome stuff and this game will last
The boxes are pretty fantastic by past standards, honestly. The base Lobi amount is far more respectable and the contents are all good enough and in-demand to the point where it's very difficult to lose much money opening one.

I would still like to see just one more Lobi in there, 5 is a big difference than 4. If they boosted it to 5 with the next one, I would feel a lot better.
I must agree as well that this lock box is much better. They are showing that they are listening though at an awfully slow rate... however between all the rage posts it was probably not easy to make the right decisions that are now making us happier.
They took a risk and I hope they are seeing better sales of it as it will encourage them that their risk was worth while.
I feel much better about the money spent, though I am not as interested in this ship this time around vs the bug and the tuffli so I wont be spending as much, the other stuff is pretty good stuff. I have over 60K bonus pool for fleet credits... that TRIBBLE is great...
I am also really really enjoying the reward packs from Nukura... they are freaking great! I have already used the Lobi to get a Mark XII very rare set of the Tholian ground set. Just playing the time slot with the medium missions nets a but load of fleet marks and you get so many advanced reward packs and they drop really good stuff. Almost feels wrong...

There is a negative point I've forgotten to mention though, with all these OP components and ship releases, PvE becomes incredibly easy and boring. With all these carriers, galors, and now fleet ships, cruiser mobs don't even last a second when we run the daily deferi missions, red alerts, b'tran exploration, or whatever mission you want from the list. The challenge level is close to zero now.
We need a super-elite mode, with mobs having a lot more powers and abilities, otherwise we'll get bored soon.
The concept behind the Tholian box is nice and it's *not* a complete rip off like past ones were. However, I don't like how we're getting Tholian ships out of them. That just doesn't make any sense.

Do I like this new box better than the previous yes? Yes. However liking something more than something else does not mean I actually like it for what it is. I would rather eat dirt than eat a TRIBBLE, but that doesnt mean I actually like eating dirt. Likewise, I will never actually like random purchases where you do not know exactly what you are buying.

Agreed. Tholians do not breath oxygen, are giant buugs, and live on demon class planets. Their ships would ne well ove 200 degrees, and the controls would be made for big insects. Tholian shipps make no sense.
When in doubt, (hehe) c4!

Me playing UT2k4 (red guy) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wz0DnP7wXnU
Is the sword worth it? It looks like its bind on pickup because I don't see any for sale on the exchange.
It is bind on pickup.
i think its ok, but its not that great.
if you can copy your character to tribble (the transfer was a bit wonky last time i checked) then you can buy the stuff there first and test it.

Now shaddup about the queues, it's a BUG
Well, they will probably remove it when the next box comes along like they did all the ferengi stuff.
