KDF Vessels For A New KDF Member

I am soon to purchase four additional character slots, specifically so I can have three KDF characters (one for each profession). What end-game (Non-Fleet) ships out there are the good ones to have? I was looking at the Guramba (For Tactical) and the Kar'Fi (For Science), but am not really sure. I was unimpressed with the Odyssey, so don't really want the KDF equivalent of that. Is there a place where all the ships are compared together with their pro's and con's aside from scouring through the forums all night?

Thanks for the advice and knowledge.

Also, with the Fleet Ships coming out, are there any pre-end game ships worth getting from the Zen store that we will be able to upgrade to Fleet ships? For instance, I really like the looks of the Scourge Destroyer (Captain) and the Dacoit (Commander) are those upgradeable to Fleet Ships (with all the fun-to-grind other nessecities)? My thoughts are to buy them at the lower levels so I can use them, but I really don't want to buy them if they are worthless after I get past that particular rank.

If you buy just one lower-level ship, the Vandal Destroyer. Not so much for the ship itself, but the Plasmonic Leech console results in a big bonus to all your power levels whenever you're attacking something, and its the cheapest premium ship on the KDF side. Its a bundle of happiness in a console-sized package.

If you're going to be buying a bunch of premium ships like the Kar'fi and Guramba, maybe think about contrast when picking your Lvl40 ships so you can switch back and forth depending on mood. Like the Guramba is pretty much an escort, so for your tac spend your free token on the Negh'var or Vor'cha Retrofit, and choose between if you wanna be fast-attack or tank-with-dual-cannons on the same character. On the sci if you like the Kar'fi, sometimes you want to cloak and turn quickly and such, and Hegh'ta with its universal slots can make a surprisingly effective science ship. More options are always good.

I am not nessesarily looking to purchase a bunch of them, just prepared to do so and want a rough estimate of how much I should be saving dilithium/purchasing zen. This Vandal's console is useable on all KDF ships then? Also, is the Vandal also a Fleet Ship to where I could upgrade it to a Tier 5 ship with only one of the Fleet Modules?

I'm also not completely in love with those ships, just looking at what ships are the better ones out there, and for what class.

What are you looking to do with each character? The classic tank/heal/dps triangle.

The Dacoit and Scourge are not upgradable...they might save you the cost of some fleet modules...if they function the same way fed ships do. Dacoit you would save scourge costs the same as three modules.

But the fighters that come with the Dacoit aren't to good and the console that comes with the Scourge has been nerfed so it kinda sucks.

Probably the traditional Tactical - DPS, Science - Heals, Engineer - Tank, but really just want to have fun and try out more unique things as well.

When I say upgrade, that is what I mean, are they avaliable as Fleet ships to where I am only have to buy 1 module instead of several.

I heard that with one of the ships you can collect slaves or something? That sounds like it would be fun.

Aside from what I can read in the Zen-Store I know nothing about the ships or the effectiveness of their consoles.

Well DPS...if c-store ships aren't out of the question...I would say a Garumba, perhaps a Kar'fi. For tanking A neghvar or a voquv are good. Healing a Varanus or a voquv can make a healer as well.

I highly suggest a carrier for one slot. My tactical Vo-quv carrier is simply a beast in STFs, able to solo many enemies with its BOPs.

You'll also wanna try out the Bird of Prey. Its universal Boffs is quite interesting. Raptors are also quite fun, in a pure DPS role.

Other then that.. I have no experience in cruisers, or any of the premium ships so I can't say.

Engineer, interestingly enough, goes well with carriers, since it hangs back and lets the pets be the primary weapon, with your 6 internal weapons and system targeting to support them, and your inate abilities to handle personal healing. Orion Slavers are the pet that steals prisoners and loot, though you're giving up some of your offense (compared to BoP pets) as a trade. And like MB52 said, the BoP is just fun to fly with its speed and versatility, and good for a tac or sci (particularly sci, since the KDF doesn't have any free science ships otherwise).

No, only Tier 5 C-store ships qualify for the Fleet upgrade discount, of which I believe we have zero. So a ship like the Fleet Scourge Destroyer retrofit is going to cost you 4 modules regardless (and yes, it's bull****).

For a Tac captain, right now there are a couple ships that are worthwhile. The Guramba Siege Destroyer, the Fleet Scourge Destroyer, the Fleet Vor'cha Battlecruiser(using 2x Aux to Damp), and the Fleet Hoh'SuS Bird-of-Prey.

I don't have any experience w/ Sci or Eng as a Klingon.

The only ship worth buying at low levels is the Vandal for the Plasmonic Leech console. Avoid everything else.

The Bio-Neural Warhead that comes with the Commander level C-Store Raptor makes it's money back especially in PvE. I purchased it and have never looked back. :D

That is MAJOR bs... I find it very difficult to put money into a ship that i'm only going to use for 10 levels (when you level super fast), even if it does have a cool console.

Which ship is it that allows you to collect slaves or contraband or something? I heard about this, but was not sure if it was true or not...
