i disagree with my fleet i am mostly me with few helper i get job done time is on my side and evey day i got run the toons for needed stock of fleet marks and dilium before i can lax off for necessary needs. I can do a build a day but they hog tie needed doffs and exchange out price there; i do resort to it and hope for best when needed; as for time i will complete and way fleet were built was a sham that why there so much problems because greed took exchange i look for best price. tier 5 will be when many get tired or they force you out and thay keep profit you paid into there is better but at this point ???

Soloing a starbase up to tier 3 is possible. tier 4 is impractical. The upgrade projects alone at tier 4 (Shipyard/Industrial fabricators/Communications array/transwarp gate/starbase upgrade) need enough dilithium that if you only get 20000 a day it will take you almost 300 day to do and that is not including the project to get the xp to qualify for them. Tier 2 is no problem. Tier 3 is doable. Tier 4 is impractical.

Most of the solo fleets will stop with tier 3.

The first solo tier 3 base that I know of is mine fleet "Starbase 001"

All 3 upgrade sections are done - the fab will come off CD in 3 1/2 days and I will launch the tier 3 upgrade itself.

Personally it is an insane project for anyone to do - possible but not very practical for what you get out of it.

Beyond tier 3 while it is possible would be a complete waste for a solo project so as i said before I will be taking on a few people who are only interested in moving the base forward and are not to big on doing "fleet" things. They will have access to the shipyard and store - all they have to do is provision them so it's not going to be a locked out situation as many of the people who are in big fleets find themselves.

It's funny I have had my own tier 3 shipyard for over 3 days and have not made a ship yet - that's how much of a hurry I am in to get one.

I have my base at T1, Mil at T1, Sci at T1 and Eng just reached 50k so I start T3 Fabricator on Monday. Having looked ahead to what's avail at the next couple tiers, T3 Eng is going to be it for me. My last upgrade will be base to T2, after the fabricator finishes. The gear at the higher levels is just kind of meh, and I'm not interested in buying ships I already own for another $20.

I think that, to a point, a single-man fleet starbase is a decent proposal. I say so, because I am doing one myself. But you have to be willing to stay realistic about what you will actually get.

The big limiting factor won't be dilithium, or DOFFs, or anything else, it's just fleet marks, which you will have to grind up by yourself. Even one project can need hundreds of marks already. They can be earned pretty easily, but just know that it isn't gonna be a quick thing of course.

I myself plan on making a tier-1 starbase, with all the tier-1 levels of all three areas, and POSSIBLY make a tier-2 just because, but aside from that, I'll be done after it.

A one-man base I believe is very doable, just as long as the person doesn't try and over do what they can really do.

This is what I am still working on. I just want Transwarp access to all points in the game. That's my ONLY goal.

As The 1 person in this game who has tier 3 across the board virtually complete and will start the T3 upgrade in 3 days now - building a T5 starbase solo is virtually impossible.

If you are takinging about just doing sci all the way through and nothing else I suppose that could be done just to get the transwarp gate - but why??

Like someone said you could buy the Excel refit and have transwarp all across the map. Add to that the 20,000,000 or so dilth wasted you could buy more transwarp coils than you could ever use

Seriously if there are any loonies out there even thinking of going past T3 by them self - take the advice from someone who has poured pretty much min 6 hr a day - eveery day into it from launch - don't bother - get that idea out of your head right now and work on something else - for what you get it's just not worth it.

This insane journy I started was not to get anything specifically - just to see if it was possible. There is little reason to have one other than the challenge of doing it.

Not impossible, just really expensive, lots of effort, and would take a long time to do. Would be just a manner of getting a Tier 5 Starbase before the game ends. Would be easier if you consider having alts as still being a solo fleet with the 66 Fleet Marks per day from the Foundry and Watch Officer dailies as well as the dilithium dailies.

I have gotten pretty good at building a solo base to make it this far to tier 3 - I have also run the estimates based on what is currently known about T4 and T5 requirements.

Unless there are any changes it would take me almost 2 years at 6 hrs a day to complete a tier 5 starbase

I call that "virtually impossible" and "very stupid" thing to do. What a waste of time that would be - the most important reasource we have vs these virtual resources.

Provided you are wealthy and willing to waste thousands of dollars on it, the limiting factor is Fleet Marks since you can just convert $ to dilithium or EC and buy everything through the exchange. Of course, it is a very stupid thing to do to waste $ on a few pixels like the lockbox ships and a ton of us are guilty of that.

Other than my monthly sub fee I have not put $1 dollar into lock-boxes or this base project. And yes that would be a very stupid thing to do. But if someone has lots of money and a good part of their life to burn - why not.

I'm thinking of going all the way to tier 3 with the Dil Mine, and only working towards a tier 5 shipyard. Then selling access to my shipyard, the price being increasing each of the other shipyard and embassy tiers one level before provisioning access is given. That way I can get other people to help with the rest of the build. I figure they will only hang around long enough to buy their tier 5 ship then run back to their home fleet.
