Looking for a Fleet

Greetings. I am looking for a fleet for me and my two sons to be a part in. I am 34, my two boys are 11 and 8. We are looking for a family oriented and friendly/helpful fleet to join. We are all from the US and in the Eastern Time Zone.

I am returning to the game, although last time I played was back in 2010 and for only the first month. So I am still new to this game as are my boys. I would prefer a guild that is family oriented and casual but with active members in it who are friendly and don't mind noobish questions from time to time or the fact that my boys will be boys at time.
Teamspeak or ventrillo is not an issue, as I have both on at least two of the computers being used, and most likely I will use it as will my oldest son possibly.

In game my Characters name is Syphon. Once I am invited i can get my son's characters added.

Looking to have fun in this game and learn some of the ins and outs. I have alot of MMO experience. My previous games played are UO, FF11, WoW, Rappelz, Runes of Magic, Everquest, Everquest2, ****, Rift, Star wars the old republic, Guild wars, Star wars galaxy, DCUO, Champions online, City of Heroes, Wizard 101, Lotro and probably several others i can't think of right now. My oldest son has played a few online games, mainly swtor, wizard 101, Lotro and some other F2P ones that he was into, and my younger son has at least dabbled in Lotro some and Wizard 101.

As far as characters, I rolled an Engineer (tank), my oldest son went with a science officers, and my younger son is a tactical officer. We opted for a well rounded group so when we group up with have all our bases covered.
Thanks for looking, and best of luck to all the fleets out their.

    Good evening.

While it's one of the oddest named Fleets out there, - Redneck Academy - currently runs family-friendly team operations for dilithium dailies, elite and normal STFs. We have little in the way of rules and regulations (famously: none) that means you are very unlikely to run into any unwanted harassment or self-appointed authority figures.

We have children in our ranks and they operate in a similar manner to anyone else - you'll very likely be given your own fireteam to run in any manner you see fit in deployment, while two other veterans fly in support of your 'squadron'.

This guild of mine also has a unique modus operandi - new pilots are the ones who call the shots, while veterans know to adapt performance and tactics to keep everyone alive and achieve victory. This adaptive mission style is also very suited for playing with kids, because they have the potential to bring many new tactics to teamplay and STFs, with their Dad's permission of course :)

    - Redneck Academy - was formed in response to our members' combined experience with caustic guild environments and hostile STF playing environments where veterans did not mentor newer or returning players but rather actively abused them or forced them to conform to unreasonable ideals.

We believe Star Trek Online is not some wannabe boot camp. We believe that everyone can be the Captain of their fancy and live their Star Trek dreams in company of like-minded individuals from around the world. Hence, on deployment with the Rednecks you'll notice the general order of the day is "pilots' discretion". Pick a role and a ship, you'll be ensured to have strategic and tactical support for your fireteam, no questions asked.

... Actually, not so much around the world. We're active for the American timezone regardless of where we are in the world.

Here are some things to ponder -

We are not a pretend-military organization, but some of us (and myself) have over two decades of wargaming experience, or experience with real world (para)military organizations.

The one thing I place in high importance is protecting our pilots' interests. If its a cadet seeking personal assistance I will take time off from combat wing ops to teach whatever is requested of me

If an external party was harrassing one of my juniors or one of the kids in the fleet, that party will have to deal with me personally on my own legal terms (after all, gaming law is frontier law in a way. Shoot to kill.). Confidence in organizational support is the one thing that all pilots can expect here.

We ask for no personal information from our members (pilots) nor do we intrude upon one another's affairs, in game or out. Everyone is assumed to be a professional post TNG-era Captain in their own way and communications are structured as such; after all, they've made it past starship command course in STO already. Kids included :)

In esscence chat channels are self moderated, do not require moderation. Everyone knows to stick to PG-13 as per informal SOP for most/all gaming related matters.

We don't have a website or fancypants chat servers, we plainly just have one very, very messed up fleet thread that's used as a blog site for occasional doctrine development, operations logs, etc etc...

And while there are no fancy Starfleet recruitment videos from us but random task force exercises, we usually let our flying do the talking (youtube channel). This is I believe the only fleet to execute coordinated battle plans without use of any communications whatsoever. No voice comms, nothing. A lot of people wonder how...

    - Communications

Contact @carmenara in-game or PM on this website.

    Active timezones -

EST mornings (myself) and/or afternoons (rest of fleet) on weekdays.
    Practically 24/7 on weekends.
STF Flight Instructor since Early 2012. Newbies are the reason why STO lives and breathes today. Do not discriminate.

Good evening. I hope you will take a moment and consider the Vulcan Kolinahr Fleet. We are a small but great fleet. We are easy going, dedicated and friendly. We all come from different backgrounds and have different ways of doing things, but that?s part of what makes us great.

Anyone in our fleet is happy to help others when needed, in almost any aspect of the game and in some cases RL. We have a fleet TeamSpeak3 server that we use for voice chat not just in-game but also to hang out as well and get to know each other better (not required, just available). Many of us are located on the East Coast (USA).

Although I say our fleet is dedicated, we also realize that everyone has lives as well, so therefore when you need to take the time, you don't need to be concerned about losing your position within the fleet due to RLtoo. We do not discriminate against such things because we understand that sometimes real life issues and problems can take time to resolve, and that some time is needed to sort things out.

So please, think about joining and moving with us into 2409 armed with the best Intel, the most specific and targeted body of knowledge about STO, and a group of Fleet-mates who will be there with you in the crunch.

    The Vulcan Kolinahr Fleet

    Live Long and Prosper!

If you would like additional information on the [VKF] please don?t hesitate to contact me or any of our members.

You are welcome to try out the Third Fleet Task Force. We are still small by most measures but we take the input of all of our members seriously. We have active members and a few are young members and others are family folk with kids of their own. We don't take things too seriously and do love to do STF's and replay missions. We expect to be asked questions and we love to assist each other and find answers to problems. We also have younger members in the fleet as well. We also have a Website, Forum, and Teamspeak server if you need it.

You can get in touch with me in game @john_masters or /channel_join tftfsto and speak to any available member.

[UF]United Federation is a very family-friendly fleet with a casual, relaxed atmosphere I am sure you would enjoy. I know of at least one father-son duo that is currently in our guild, and we would love to have more. We stay pretty active in the game, and in the forums. We also have a presence is a couple other games as well, and we use TeamSpeak 3 and Xfire for communications. Feel free to click the link down in my signature and check us out. You may be able to find a few of us online at sometime or another throughout the day.
