Yes, yes that picture does sum it up quite nicely. I have been doing STFs for ages now and i have 2 of the MACO space set MkXII and 1 of the MACO ground MkXII i never seem to be able to get the rest

Sadly, The Prototype Tech drops (Mk XII) is all about luck and randomness.
You can do 10 STFs in a day, 50 a week, and get nothing. Someone can do their first Elite and get their prototype.
There is no rhyme or reason on why someone does or doesn't get their drop. Yet the only way to get them is to keep trying. One can have over 400 EDC, a score of prototype salvage, and still be missing their Prototype tech drops.
Grinding for these drops and praying... hoping to see that "Prototype X Tech" in beautiful and sexy purple fonts isn't about fun...
Fortunately, if you have a good fleet and good friends, enduring this grind can be tolerable.
Nevertheless, Cryptic/PWE seriously needs to evaluate the math of probability or provide another alternative besides 'pray and loot'.
yes thank god for a good fleet...........but so I dont get far long in this, this was just a post to see who else was getting pissed at the droprates. I like most others have run the hell out of STF's soo many times for one drop and never get it. I've run KAGE just for the last piece of MKXII gear that I've nailed the accolade for 1000+ Borg killed and have lost count on the number times tried now. Glad others are feeling this pain also
the more i read posts like these the more i am convinced it is purely random and luck. i have been playing for a few months and have done quite well getting plenty of prototype including full maco and omega 12 space sets. the ground is a little harder.....still no PSG shields from IGE.
i have read many posts were players have said they have played 100's of STFs and still do not have the maco or omega 12 sets. i can see why this is so aggravating to players. i wish getting these things were based more on skill, for example, who delivers the most damage gets the best drops or something along those lines.
The problem is that the proto tech items are bound. I told with a player who got the same proto tech 4 times. So even when he used 2 for M.A.C.O an Omega set piece he had 2 more proto tech he cannot use.
I got the rare engine tech 7 times!!!! Well I changed it for delithium. I would be glad to trade it for other usefull items or credits.
My solution:
1. Let?s make the proto tech items tradeable for the exchange.
2. Make them available through proto salvage or other marks.
3. We need a special reward for the optionals. So more player would give their best to win this. I saw many player who had no interest in winnig the optional.
Yup. Spot on. I have two proto armors that i got within 20 rounds of KAGE, but after over 60 attempts, ISE refuses to send me my mk12 MACO. You were almost right, I haven't found anything good, but i have found plenty of sh*t.
When in doubt, (hehe) c4!

I'm running successful 3 or 4 elite STF per day. I didn't get anything to get maco set MKXII space or ground.
But because I found nice players I run STF for the fun.
Yeah, it really is random. Got three protos today all of which were non-duplicates. I had been running ISE for a couple of weeks and then it dropped for both characters in about an hour.
I run and rerun ISE, and KASE and get rare tech, but never proto. I accidentally entered CSE (That one is too much of a pain). lucked into a great group, and got proto engine tech.
Now ISE and KASE mock me every day.
I just today got my first Prototype Engine Tech. I've been doing STFs for months now. Before that, I got a single Recruit Armor Tech. Since the STF update, I've gathered enough EDCs to almost complete every other recruit set, M.A.C.O. and Omega, Space and Ground.
Why is it so difficult to get this stupid tech!? I can't wait until the new reputation system, where we can get them elsewhere. I'm hoping that it will give everyone a fair chance to get it, not the 5% chance that it seems we have now.
in these days on my main toon ive done a lot of ground stfs to drop prototechs for maco mk xii set but nothing, in about 50/60 runs i only dropped 1 armor tech
yes, i also dropped a lot of proto borg salvage but i believe, at this point, that i just wait for new reputation system and be proud of my maco mk xi and omega mk xii sets
In the elites I have ran I have only for one mkXII proto tech which makes it almost useless unless you have the full set. But sounds like this new system will make things easier for us but will cost a lot of dilithium

I was at a LAN party with a friend who was showing me the ropes on my first elite STF when I got a shield prototype drop on our very first run.
I seriously thought he was going to strangle me
I've been playing mostly normal STF's and have been rewarded with a fair amount of mk 10 and mk 11 gear. It seems like the drops for the Elite's are crazy low.
My latest alt has done maybe 250 STFs total, she has:
1 x full set Mk X Omega ground
2 x full set Mk XI Omega ground
1 x full set Mk XI KHG ground
1 x full set Mk XII Omega ground
1 x full set Mk XII KHG Ground
1 x full set Mk XI KHG space
1 x full set Mk XI Omega space
1 x full set Mk XII Omega space
2 x full set Mk XII KHG space
She also has 3 ships, all fully outfitted with the Mk XII [Borg] weapons.
Plus all four Borg Doffs.
Currently I'm sitting on 120(ish) EDCs, 45 Rare Borg Salvage, 35 Proto Borg Salvage, 1 x Proto Engine, 1 x Proto Deflector, 1 x Proto PSG and 2 x Proto Armor.
I've also traded in plenty of Rare Armor, Engines etc. for Dilithium.
This stuff falls like rain. Every STF I do near enough, someone gets Proto Tech.
My other two alts have similar collections. All I can say is that perseverance, for me at least, seems to have paid off.
Pretty soon it'll be a moot point but if you're trying to get this stuff before Season 7 hits, hit up a channel like PublicEliteSTF - your chances of getting this stuff go up dramatically if you're consistently teamed with people that know the drill.

But never fear in season 7 I can spend 108,000 Dl for a full set plus 5 rare mark things of borg, thank you for the minor Dl tax Cryptic.
I hope some tells me I'm wrong about that amount if not......
